In CT, if the threat leaves your property & you give chase, YOU now become the threat in the eyes of CT law. Regardless of what the perp did while on your property.
Same here in Massatuskey.
The law is an ass. Dickens.
Charlotte homeowner tracks down, kills, youth suspected in home invasion and burglary
excellent!
That’s not just Charlotte, that is everywhere. It has to do with the sanctity of life being more important than possessions and the rule of law over vigilante justice.
The homeowner can blast the perp if he is under immediate threat. He can’t track him down after the threat is passed and execute him, appointing himself as judge, jury and executioner. He needs to go through the proper law channels.
And theft of some jewelry and wallet does not merit capitol punishment in any jurisdiction.
The law is the same here in NC. I suspect there is still another shoe to drop here.
I’m wondering if he shot the right guy. If the robbers were holding the couple by gunpoint, where’s the gun?
I hope he didn’t unload on a kid that just happened to be near where the robbers were running away.
I hope this doesn’t end like a Twilight Zone episode.

I’d imagine that is true in nearly every state (perhaps even in Texas).
I think the judge should give him a stern lecture about the evils of vigilante justice and the importance of letting the justice system do its work...followed by a wink and a supsended sentence.
Sigh.
