Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, longtime Democratic senator and the patriarch of the Kennedy political family, has died after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
The Kennedy family released a statement early Wednesday morning saying, "Edward M. Kennedy the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port. We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it's hard to imagine any of them without him."
In recent weeks, Kennedy had received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama, and his younger sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, died. News came last week that the senator had sent a letter to the governor of Massachusetts, asking that he work to change the state's laws of succession to fill his Senate seat quickly through a direct appointment, rather than through a lengthier special election process. Kennedy's letter, as well as his absence from the White House Medal of Freedom ceremony and his sister's funeral, fueled speculation that his health condition was grave.
Mary Jo had no comment.
I cannot say that I am sad......it’s more like an anchor was lifted.
oh, yeah......may he RIP.
Well. The Devil claims his own, after all.
Well, I guess he didn’t get his health care bill passed in time, so at least he was able to escape the rationing and get good care before dying.
He was not a good man and he was not helpful to this country. He was a bloated murderer who drank himself to pieces.
That said, he has either found peace or he has found Hell.
My heartfelt condolences to the poor, starving tumor.
Spare us the twelve hour state funeral, ‘K?
"This Is Bush's Fault!
God held his own death panel. Just a few years too late big guy! An appropriate send off would be to put him behind the wheel of an Olds and drive him off the bridge! Good Riddance!
He finally did the right thing, but 47 years too late.
On the other hand, from NH, in a couple of years I may have the chance to “anoint” him, which would be a joyful thing.,
*Note to self* - Do not turn on television for another month.
I can’t say anything nice, so.....
I was vehemently opposed to any and all things this man did politically, but I sincerely pray he found the salvation of the Lord before his passing.
My principal disagreement with Kennedy is the way he left Mary Jo Kopechne to drown, possibly along with his unborn child. The unfortunate thing for the Kennedy clan and the nation is that the most morally degenerate and least competent Kennedy boy was also the longest-lived. The world would have been better off had this Kennedy never been born. May he rot in hell.
You know what Ted Kennedy did best? You won’t hear this today. You will hear about all the wonderful programs and bills he introduced that were passed. But what did all those wonderful programs do? They spent taxpayer money. YES. That is what Ted Kennedy did best. HE FOUND WAYS TO STEAL THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY’S MONEY AND SPEND IT THE WAY HE SAW FIT! That’s why we are in so much debt! He never held a private sector job that I know of. He lived off of his Daddy’s money and the money he made as a “public servant” which means the taxpayers kept him. I found the man to be disgusting.
Yeh but watch out now for the 'Ted Kennedy National HealthCare Bill' in memory of and do it for Ted crap.
"This reminds me of a little song I wrote once upon a time! Ya wanna hear it?"
