Just an observation.

Women are competitive, possibly more so than men. Women dress to impress other women, they are concerned about matching accessories, cut, color, texture and details that no (straight) man would notice.

Women are far more critical of their bodies, and the bodies of other women than the most picky man. Want to hear mean comments, listen to women pick apart the contestants during the bathing suit competition. While men sit and drool and make half-hearted attempts of commenting on possible flaws - the women are merciless.

Now, if you have a country where women hide behind burkas their entire life, they have no incentive (other than perhaps personal pride) to look beautiful, to be physically active - as the only one to see them without the Burka are family members. So, if there were Arab beauties; I doubt they could compete on a international level. Just my humble opinion.

Most Arab cultures have social events with women only.

Jewelry and dress are flaunted behind these closed doors.

I don't know about the rest of the Islamic world, but in Iraqi rural areas a lot of the women do the vast majority of the work on the family farm. Sadly, a man's wife (particularly a second or third wife) is really more of an indentured servant/baby maker than a romantic life partner. And although they usually weren't dressed in a full burqa, most of the women were still covered in heavy robes while doing this work out in the scorching heat. I image that those women stay in pretty good shape.

As for their beauty, they may not have had as much primping practice as Western women, but often their natural beauty more than made up for it. A lot of the Iraqi women I saw were stunningly beautiful...olive skin, light green eyes, full lips. Simply gorgeous.

From a variety of books I have read (written by a cross-section of women) published in the last 15 years, there’s a whole lot of primping still going on beneath the burquas.

Women still like to feel like women!
