[history]
After weeks of excruciating pain, Mark Wattson was understandably relieved to have his appendix taken out.
Doctors told him the operation was a success and he was sent home. But only a month later the 35-year-old collapsed in agony and had to be taken back to Great Western Hospital in Swindon by ambulance.

And my favorite part:
Paul Gearing, deputy general manager for general surgery at Great Western Hospital NHS Trust, said: '...we would like to apologise if Mr Wattson felt dissatisfied with the care he received at Great Western Hospital.'
Get ready, America, 'cause this is where we're headed, too, if our Imperial Government manages to take control of the health industry. Don't like the care you received? Too bad. If you're lucky, you might get an apology. Good luck getting anything more than that.

Why is he complaining? He got not one, but two free surgeries!

I have had an inflamed appendix twice in my lifetime, and still have that pesky appendage. I had both attacks back when (early 50s) the consensus was to cool the abdomen and wait for the inflammation to pass. Now I have the ongoing fear of appendicitis facing me every time I have a gas pain.

Maybe they got his appendix confused with his pituitary gland.
Easy mistake, could happen to anybody.

FYI, this was already posted earlier today. Thanks for mentioning that. I tried searching the forums prior to posting (appendix, NHS, man collapses, etc.) and came up empty. Any suggestions on how to avoid this if a keyword search using the headline fails to find it?

Now I have the ongoing fear of appendicitis facing me every time I have a gas pain. Ouch! It certainly sounded funny when I read it, but I can only imagine the real anguish that you have to live with when you never know if some little pain is the beginning of something much worse. Stay well :-)

I had mine out when I was 21. The only time I’ve had worse gastric type pain was with a stomach flu bug that cramped me up and laid me out for a couple of days last year.

Says Mr. Wattson...
I have no idea what they did take out, but I want to find out what went wrong..
Isn't this the same sort of evil-mongering and brown shirt whining they they are having over in the colonies?

Perhaps he should have asked for the "old part" like you do at the neighborhood garage to make sure they actually replaced the broken part and aren't ripping you off...
