Cindy Sheehan, the peace activist who camped out in the summer of 2005 near President Bushs Texas ranch, is heading for President Obamas vacation site in Marthas Vineyard, Mass.
Ms. Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, said in a press release Monday that she would hold a press conference Wednesday morning at the Oak Bluffs Elementary School on the island resort. That is where the White House press corps is working during the presidents vacation.
We need to give the president the moral backbone he needs to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Sheehan said last week, speaking on MSNBC. Sheehan seeks what she said is immediate, complete, and as safe as possible withdrawal from the Middle East.
Mr. Obama doesnt represent real change, Sheehan charged, noting that July was the worst month yet for casualties of US soldiers in Afghanistan. The only change I have seen in foreign policy is, unfortunately, things are getting worse in Afghanistan and Iraq, Sheehan said on MSNBC.
Feeding a hungry press corps
With the president on vacation and mostly out of public sight, the White House press corps traveling with him to Marthas Vineyard is hungry for news. Sheehan will likely get more coverage than if she called a press conference in Washington and had to compete with many other events for attention.
Her press conference will come as polls show declining public support for US military involvement in Afghanistan. This months ABC News/Washington Post poll found that Americans, by a margin of 51 percent to 47 percent, do not feel the war in Afghanistan is worth fighting. In the same poll, 45 percent of Americans felt the number of US troops in Afghanistan should be reduced, while 24 percent felt the number should be increased.

Wake me up when she calls for his impeachment.
Who is funding this “w”ITCH
Attention whore either way.
No sympathy for Sheehan. She got used by leftists and remains a communist sympathizer.
She's combing every square inch of Nantucket until she finds him, too.
Casey's name is on the 1st Cav Memorial. It's a much more dignified way to remember him.
Pffftt... this is funny......
i do feel sorry for this woman. i hope she someday finds peace within herself, and honors her son’s decisions and actions, rather than spitting on his sacrifice by contiuing to yell that he died for nothing.
She must be broke again. A little protest here, a little protest there and she might make a buck or two. The press is no longer interested; therefore, she will soon have to get a real job.
Old hippies never die, they just smell like it.
She can crawl back into her hole for all I care, but as long as she is on this side of the grass, let her be their pain in the ass..............
That Sheehan is an Amazing woman.
I’ve never seen anyone survive a hunger strike so long.
“let her be their pain in the ass”
At least she is consistant. :)
I always knew she was a racist.
You ask the absolute most important question.
My sentiments exactly. I have nothing against her. Her son was killed, which is a terrible grief, and she takes solace in leftism, which is a culture of anger, hatred, and despair. Her life must be hell, and that makes me feel sorry for her. I see parents who lost their sons fighting in Iraq, and they speak with pride and believe their sons fought for something. They are the ones we should see as role models in life.
