ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A small plane made an emergency landing in a mall's parking lot on Tuesday, stunning back-to-school shoppers, and the pilot and a passenger emerged with only minor injuries.
A flight instructor and student got out of the plane, and no one on the ground was injured, police said.

Here's another shopping mall plane incident that didn't turn out so well (December 23, 1985, SunValley Mall, Concord, California):

I was there when it happened. It was a very foggy evening. I heard the plane droning low overhead and then BANG! Instant chaos. Everyone fled for the doors. I thought it was a terrorist's bomb.
Pilot and his two passengers were killed instantly, several people in the mall succumbed to their injuries from severe burns and falling debris.
Thank God nobody was hurt. What is it with all of these small plane accidents and emergency landings lately? Maybe it’s time to revise the pilot’s test.
Sounds like they should just reserve this area of the parking lot as a landing strip.
From the article, this is the second time this has happened at this mall. 1st time happened in ‘96.
I take it as a sign of deevolution in progress. We’re just not as sharp as a people as we once were. I expect a lot more systemic failures across the board.
That’s going to be expensive.
