This is old news... I first heard about this a week ago... but having thought about it some... it seems like political suicide to mess around with SS...
I wonder if this is one of those justification pograms to tax the filthy rich folks?

Cost of living increases will magically re-appear in a democrat led bill that is voted on during the 2010 election campaigns.

If this doesn't drive my fellow elderlies into the arms of end-of-life counseling, nothing will.

I have heard nothing to the contrary, and my 92-year old mother would love some good news after hearing this.

If they pass their “health care” bill, how long before they freeze funding for that, too? Sorry, little Billy, your broken leg will just have to heal on its own...

it occurs to me that COLA freeze could easily also affect VA Disability pensions which are based upon degree/% of disability

LOL!!
I think it is time for all of us old fogies to start calling social security and having long confused pitiful conversations with people that are endless.
You know how some oldsters are,,takes them forever to get out their story and cant hear well and get forgetful and wander around.
I think we all need to practice and bring down the social security help lines. Then call the white house.
They will quit trying to kill us if we start talking them to death and telling them old stories.

Can you imagine the reaction of the Left if this had happened under George Bush. They went crazy when an attempt was made to reduce the rate of rise in payments to seniors, not even an actual cut in their income.

Here is what CATO actually has to say about it:
http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=10481
They ALSO say the COLA will not happen next two years.
Where are some of those "other" sources that you claim debunk this post?

Will all government employees forego COLA increases, including Congress? How about a pay cut or layoffs? /sarc
