KNOXVILLE Jurors this morning convicted Letalvis Cobbins of first-degree murder in the torture-slaying of Knox County couple Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom.
-snip-
Description of crime (Wikipedia);
According to the testimony of the Knox County Acting Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan at the subsequent trial of Eric Boyd, Newsom was repeatedly raped and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire. Christian's death would come only after hours of sexual torture, medical examiner Mileusnic-Polchan testified. Christian suffered horrific injuries to her vagina, anus and mouth.
She was not only raped but savaged with "an object," possibly a broken chair leg, the doctor testified. She was beaten in the head. Some type of chemical was poured down her throat, and her body, including her bleeding and battered genital area, likely scrubbed with the same solution - all while Christian was alive, the forensic expert said.
She was then "hog-tied," with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered tightly with a small trash bag and her body stashed inside five large trash bags before being placed inside a large trash can and covered with sheets. Christian died slowly, suffocating, the medical examiner said.

“A hanging presents a miserable picture to the remaining garbage.”
I think a ride in old Sparky would do them all a little good, too...hanging isn’t as expository as it used to be...they cover up the drop...they don’t show them squirming and kicking and gasping for air...the way these two beautiful young kids died...
Definitely.
Hot doggies! I wish for him just 10% of the misery he caused his victims. And may it last a long, long time.
We're done with him. Next prick!
Anyone know if Rush or Sean or Laura or ?? has mentioned this heinous business? This needs to get out there.
I can't find any news of this from the usual suspects.
If you go looking, just a FYI: There's another Cobbins, Raymond, who's in trouble in Louisiana. Different crime.
“Investigators said the attack wasn’t a hate crime, just a carjacking that went terribly wrong. Local media and The Associated Press have covered developments in the case since it began.”
The thing that makes no sense is that there are some numb-skulls out there that argue that there has to be a racial component...a taunt or something...to make it a “hate crime”...but if there was no one there to hear it, how do we know there were or weren’t things said? And what could possibly change the murder into hate more than the savagery that was visited upon these two children? The whole “hate crime” mess is such a cluster-muck...I will never understand how we lost control of the legal system to the point that there is no longer equal protection under the law.
My definition of a “hate crime” is very simple. Every crime.
Didn’t read the whole thing but....was the bad guy “of color” and either victim white?
SHOULD BE AN EYE FOR AN EYE TYPE OF PUNISHMENT. RAPE THE BASTARD TO DEATH.
Speed in punishment is a necessary element that is now missing. These guys spend a lifetime on death row. It is idiocy.
We don’t want innocents put to death, but the number and type of appeals is asinine. If they are worried, have a review panel, create special death penalty courts, etc.
As my dear friend Jesse used to say, “Justice delayed is justice denied!” (he makes it rhyme, too)
I have a question. Why is the news media afraid to cover this? When some idiot kills a black man, the media has no trouble blaring it all over the place. I assume it’s because they fear they’ll be fiercely criticized for reporting it.
“just a carjacking that went terribly wrong.”
Yeah, from the description, it sounds like it was all a big accident. Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. And from the prosecutors, no less.
Wish there was a good answer for that, Pop...I really do...we have entered into a world where others think they know what is in your best interest to know or not know and were the press is no longer willing to tell a story for fear of some sort of PC backlash or the possibility of refuting so-called hate crime laws or starting a “skinhead” riot...who knows...I’ve heard a buch of theories but they all lead to the same place...the press is trying to think for us and not let us make our own judgements...
just a carjacking that went terribly wrong.
Yeah, from the description, it sounds like it was all a big accident. Stupidest thing Ive ever heard. And from the prosecutors, no less.
It is simply one of the most heinous crimes committed in years...if you got the stomach for it, read the coronors report, or even the synopsis on Wikipedia (not that it is always right, but this one seems to be) since the Tate murders...and they just let part of THAT mob walk out of prison after trying to shoot Mr. Reagan...I’m sick of all this liberal bs...just sick of it...
A live burial would be much simpler and less messy.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Good idea but furnish an air supply to the coffin sufficient for twenty four hours and inject him with methamphetamines just before burial.
There's an even less messy execution method - sedation, followed by live cremation. Four to six pounds of ashes left, eminently recyclable as fertilizer if there are no loved ones available or willing to claim them.
just a carjacking that went terribly wrong.
Yeah, from the description, it sounds like it was all a big accident. Stupidest thing Ive ever heard. And from the prosecutors, no less.

Someone had posted that the prosecutor is a black female. Does anyone know if this is correct?
Thanks.
I wonder which one decided to characterize this Hell on Earth as “just a carjacking, gone wrong”.
Aside from being a heinous mischaracterization of an unspeakably disgusting crime, how does that POSSIBLY help their case?
Here’s a video link of the prosecutor: http://www.wbir.com/video/default.aspx?aid=83186
Thanks Tennessee Girl.
I could only take about 2 minutes of that video.
This case enrages me. I’d better not say anything more.
