The US economy will shrink far more than expected this year and will rebound much more slowly than forecast after that, according to a bleak new assessment by the White House Budget Office.

Th federal government also faces exploding deficits and mounting debt over the next decade, far worse than what the Obama administration had estimated just a few months ago.

Looks like the stimulus package is working as designed. The private sector is dying while government is expanding.

The only outstanding question is how long it will be until the few remaining taxpayers die under the weight of government.

Or the economy is in exactly the shape they knew it was in, and they've lied through thier teeth about it and their ability to fix it.

"Yes we can!" was bullshit from day one.

LOL! Everytime I hear or see that expression, I realize how it will haunt this administration. It’s a perfect description of it: immature, inexperienced, incompetent, and a gigantic failure.

Yup! Thats it! Only marxists can increase business levels of confidence through their actions thereby spurring a recovery!

I dont care how many “stimulus dollars” are thrown at the economy, people and business will not buy into a marxist approach.

Maybe the people who voted for him will but those who see tomorrow, and now fearing it, won’t. The only way out is get the marxists out!

“Beware: they will probably try to paint as bleak a picture of the economy as possible”

you would think but that’s not what they did. the CBO was correct months ago but obama underestimated

I’ve never understood why Obama is “brilliant” and Dubya is “moronic.” They both went to Ivy League undergrad programs, then got graduate degrees from Harvard. They both make mistakes while talking off the cuff.

The only real difference between the two are their politics.

The lesson here. Belief in socialism makes one “brilliant,” while belief in God and American values makes one “moronic.”

Yet the market is soaring, day after day. Go figure!
Wall Street is positively giddy today on the news Bernanke was reappointed.

Could be a strategery for 2010. Make it look as bad as it can, and the dems save it. Just one on my conspiracy theories... LOL.

Yeah, how about that deficit? How could 0bama possibly have known that if his was three times of Bush's the total would be four times? That was only the first three months. Reuters now says it's going to be another two trillion. What a shock! How did Bush do it?

Yeah its either “unexpected” or “not expected”. Apparently they are the only ones that analyzed it wrong.

More proof that the Obama Administration doesn’t have a clue as to what the hell it’s doing. Every prediction they have stated so far has been wrong i.e. unemployment, deficits.

They were wrong on the stimulus, they’re wrong on Cap & Tax and they are wrong on Healthscare.

They are the domestic enemy...

More proof that the Obama Administration doesn’t have a clue as to what the hell it’s doing is a duplicitous gang of Chicago thugs. Every prediction they have stated so far has been wrong calculated to create a sense of panic that they can use to push their agenda i.e. unemployment, deficits.

You are too generous in attributing ignorance where malice exists.
