An Arizona congressman says liberals on the "Franking Commission" have deliberately tried to censor mail that conservative Republican House members are attempting to send out to their constituents.
Democrats on the bipartisan Commission on Congressional Mailing Standards have been blocking Republicans from sending out franked mailings to constituents that refer to the cap-and-trade bill as "cap and tax," the stimulus bill as the "so-called stimulus," and the healthcare reform bill as "socialized medicine."
Representative Trent Franks (R-Arizona) says the Franking Commission even told him to stop using the phrase "Democratic majority" in his newsletters, and to use "majority" instead.
"For instance, I can say 'the Speaker,' but I can't say 'Speaker Pelosi' because that's too inflammatory. Well, you know, I understand their problem -- they don't want people to really identify the Democratic Party with Nancy Pelosi," he notes. "But the point is, we are forced to change our vernacular and how we say things in order to comport with their attitudes and their way of believing [how] we should say it."

Is this because of campaign finance reform?
Who the hell do they think they are? I would do it anyway. Let them try and stop me. Republicans should say what is on their minds. Let the people decide.
Sue the basterds!
We have got to throw the CRAP HEAD Majority OUT IN 2010!
This censoring of the Mail is One More Outrageous Assault on AMERICA’S FREEDOMS!
Sue the scum!
So much for free speech.
What part of “One Party Rule” do we not seem to understand? Nancy Pelosi understands perfectly.
What do you expect from the Nationalsozialistische Arbeiterpartei .
Der Feuhrer and his minions shout “I won”
Welcome to Obamaism Communism!
This story sounds fishey.
Id like a better source.
Unbelievable! What has happened to our nation? It makes my stomach queasy when I hear things like this.
This is how they can stop them from sending out the mail:
A) Don't allow the mail to be printed
B) Don't allow the mailroom to send the mail
Conceivably, the Republicans could have it printed outside of Congress and put their own postage on it; however, that might mean that the representatives may have to pay for it out of their own pocket.
This makes me MAD! The 'pubbies might as well be putting out 'RAT mail if they get away with this. I have a big interest in WWII and watch a lot of documentaries about the NAZIs--these tactics are straight out of Goebbels playbook on propaganda/disinformation.
What is very telling, though, is the fact that the 'RATs are doing this, they know the country is up-in-arms against them.
Shout this from the rooftops GOP. Shout it from the rooftops!!
The Congresscritter cannot send his mail for FREE unless it passes the Censoring Committee dominated by Dems. That is why he/she won’t “do it anyway”. The Congresscritter would have to raise a ton of money just to get his mailer to his constituents.
Rpublicans must publicize this Atrocity! Boehner needs to get in front of the Camera and show merica what Piglousy is doing to America’s Freedoms!
Pull out the Trash the RATS have sent every day during the Bush Years and demand a retroactive Investigation!
SMEAR THE DEMORATS!!
Theres plenty of DEMORAT POOP to spread on them:-)
The first time this happened these Republicans should have called a press conference and used a special orders session. But NOOOOOOOOOO here we are 6 months in this Congress and we are just now being told that liberals are telling Republicans what they can and cannot say.
Hey Rush if you know anything about liberals using their ‘Franking Commission’ to deny Republicans their voices could you please verify.
There was an article in Human Events a few weeks ago about Rep Carter (TX) who had a similar complaint.
vaudine
Since this is the case, the RNC should pay for it. If they don’t then give up on fighting the disinformation.
