Obama's Blunder (Going after the C.I.A.)
REAL CLEAR POLITICS ^ | August 25, 2009 | William Murchison

Posted on 08/25/2009 6:02:17 AM PDT by kellynla

If the left wing of the left wing of the left wing in American life doesn't control most of the Obama farmstead's best and richest acreage, it could be time for new spectacles -- since things surely look that way.

Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to go after the CIA has all the earmarks of policy designed to make left-wing hearts palpitate. What other purpose could it possibly serve? Not that of national security or common sense.

I have written deliberately "go after the CIA," notwithstanding the demurral of newly appointed special prosecutor John Durham, which concerns the supposedly "preliminary" scope of his investigation into alleged abuses perpetrated by CIA interrogators against terrorism suspects. The range of cases is gratifyingly small when you consider that Holder, following the blood sport instincts of the left, could have gone after higher-ups -- perhaps some of those in the Justice Department who advised President Bush on interrogation policy ( like John Yoo).

Alas, as we know from experience, investigations tend to start small then grow. Was Monica Lewinsky on Ken Starr's radar screen at the start of his inquiry into the Clintons' finances? Things get out of hand. The left of the left of the left hopes no doubt that will be the case with Durham's investigation. You find on that peculiar quarter of the political spectrum a lust to punish former Vice President Cheney himself (if not the president he served). Why rule out a battalion of CIA agents who imagined themselves to be preserving American lives?

Indeed, the Inspector General's Report, which Holder cites as evidence of doing, says various interrogations gleaned "intelligence that has enabled the identification and apprehension of other terrorists and warned of terrorist plots planned for the United States and around the world."

IMO, this investigation is nothing but a witch hunt designed to do three things. Make the CIA look bad.(The libs hate the CIA, always have.) Make Bush look bad. (The things they intend to “investigate” happened during the Bush administration.) Distract the public’s attention away from health care, town hall meetings, bailouts, unconstitutional power grabs, (how many czars? 34?), birth certificate, etc., etc. The drive-by media will do their best to help in this effort.

“Panetta is a leftie, but he has to show his staff that he supports them even though he doesn’t at all.”

I have to believe this more than Panetta actually caring. Panetta only cares to move the liberal agenda further left. Panetta is alos the enemy within until he proves otherwise.

I can’t believe 0 would be bold enough to do this unless he also felt he had support from certain people inside the CIA.

This administration makes the Keystone Cops look professional and well-prepared. Since Panetta is top dog at the CIA, the two-headed snake known as ObamaRahm probably thinks they have a pass.

But hubris and ignorance can only get you so far.

Now it’s a war crime to yell at a mass murderer? Torture has a unique meaning here - it’s torture, even tho no one is hurt or touched.

No one will be prosecuted , b/c to prosecute the agents or Cheney for war crimes, they would also have to prosecute Geo Tennant, who is a dem and a clinton appointee.

No, only Reps will be prosecuted, and for the crime of “coverup” - they will be questioned for hours, and the special prosecutor will find some contradiction or difference with other “more believable” witnesses, and Cheney and others will be convicted ( the trial will be in DC- ever seen one of those jury panels?) of lying to congress.

Oh yes! The real him comes out w/he speaks from the heart - the tele is needed to keep him 'on track'. I remember when TOTUS jumped off the podium in his attempted suicide. :)

No sugar (America's poison) At BO's request or Ayers'?

This will seal the deal on a Republican takeover of the House in 2010. Reform the CIA? Sure, go for it. But keelhaul them and beat them to a pulp over interrogating some throat slitting terrorists? Absolute insanity.

Stalin must be turning over in his grave thinking how stupid the Kenyan pretender is.

Retaliatory intel? Nice idea.

Wouldn’t you love to see a few leaks, including those you mentioned, the Trinity Church years, oh, and the original discharge records of John Kerry, to name a few?

It will be an unmitigated disaster for Zer0 if we have a terrorist attack any time during his term as what this displays (as well as his publicized deemphasis of the War on Terror) is a lack of regard for the protection of this country.

No president could survive that event, and he will have only himself to blame.

“2nd Notice to CIA:

You might want to start checking school records and birth certificates of a certain loon. Might be interesting.”

Hillary undoubtedly has info already. The trap will be sprung at the most advantageous time for her.

I don’t expect Hussein to be “in office” much longer...
between a certain U.S. District Judge (a Marine) in Santa Ana, CA and after pissing off the guys at C.I.A.;
I expect that a certain Kenyan Birth Certificate will surface any day now...

I hope Hussein has enjoyed the ride so far ‘cause his “jig is up” anytime now...

They didn’t hate Valerie Plame, though. Seems they are selective, don’t they?

...all the earmarks of policy designed to make left-wing hearts palpitate.

Why? Take a look at the "Strongly Approve" line in Rasmussen's poll. His hard core support is bleeding out and he's done if he can't staunch it. Axelrod and Rahm are hoping this will put some pressure on the blown artery.

What is laughable is the fact that Obama is trying to distance himself from Holder's decision, as if Holder isn't a part of Obama's administration. If Holder is doing this, then Obama is on board, regardless of his public pronouncements.
