Oh, I never knew that. I have only seen one east coast shore and that was in New Jersey, very clean.
I am from southern California, clean beaches (sands) except for the tar and oil.

“...that was in New Jersey, very clean.”

Well thank you for saying something nice about New Jersey, a compliment to our “shore” from a Californian is very flattering.

Prettiest beaches I’ve ever seen are the Gulf Coast beaches in the Florida panhandle and Alabama. Beautiful sugar white sand.

The nicest beaches in the United States are on Fire Island, IMHO. Been to Hermosa and Laguna in Cali, thought they were OK. South(east) Florida has warm water, but plenty of erosion (and tourists!).
