I used to contribute a lot, but I stopped.

I stopped because everyone is saying "I'm not contributing to anything or anyone except for (fill in the blank).

So my reaction is similar to the local school board which is, "If you don't give more money, we will cut sports" and my reaction is "If you guys won't contribute to my stuff, I won't contribute to your stuff."

I used to contribute to all republicans. In 2006, I donated to both DeWine and Blackwell. But after a while, I realized since you guys won't donate to Dewine (or other rinos), I should exclusively donate to Dewine (and other rinos)

And that's why I have not donated to FR. Everyone says "don't donate to the RNC" so now instead of donating to FR and the RNC, I donate exclusively to the RNC.

It is the same with the Ohio Lottery money that goes "only to education". Oh yeah, the money only goes to education, except then, they cut the general fund support for education and replace it with lottery money and DEFACTO, THE LOTTERY MONEY GOES INTO THE GENERAL FUND.

But, this freepathon is going to long, so Alex, I'll take FR for 200, oh, I mean, Jim, I'm in for 200.

I have literally no money. The economy really does stink. A LOT of freepers have lost their jobs and many are working for lower-paying jobs. I got a pile of pennies somewhere, I wonder if a stamp can get them to Fresno?

Anyway, if I win the lottery I WILL donate a lot to FR, its the first place I go online, I’ve been coming here since ‘97 or something. I love this site, its the best site online.

I say keep the Freepathon going as long as it needs to be.

I donate every so often, just not a lot of money.

I’m not working right now, so I don’t always donate every month.

Sometimes I donate after the FReepathon is over.

Hubby and I have only been giving to politicians of OUR choosing, 2A groups and FR.

The RNC & the rest can go take a flying leap. I told them I won’t invest another penny until I see real changes.

Real changes don’t cost anything. All they have to do is make the right decisions. They don’t need my money to do the right thing, even though they insist it is necssary to “fight Obama’s agenda” as the last telemarketer for a republican cause stated.

I contribute every time there is a request...I didn’t contribute as much this time as I usually do, though.

I see little inspiring leadership from the RNC and the RNSC; only endless requests for money (actually, they’ve slowed down considerably with me which is fine).

FreeRepublic DOESN’T send out endless junkmail or call on the phone—fortunately the Republican fundraisers don’t call me.

I agree with much more of the philosophy I see expressed on FR whether Libertarian or traditional conservative than I do with the “big tent” ideas expressed by Michael Steele (clean and indeed articulate though he is) or the unprincipled, wishy washy compromising of RINOs like Dewhiner, Snowejob, McKook, Gramnesty, (and on and on). Therefore, I’m happy to support FR and receive much more bang for the buck!

Just sent $100 -— guilty of just letting it go.

I enjoy FR too much to NOT contribute.

I donate when I can.

I enjoy this website, but if someone says you can't come back unless you donate, then ok, I won't come back.

I'll find another place to get my conservative news.

Here’s a novel idea - it’s time FreeRepublic to start posting ads to pay for itself. Instead of having quarterly Freepathons (each for $80,000 - $240,000 a year) why don’t we start donating to actual conservative candidates!

Imagine $240,000 being infused towards the campaigns of a few conservative for 2010. You might say that’s only a drop in the bucket for a campaign - and it is; but every little bit helps.

Just please no “Are You Smarter than Sarah Palin?” ads thanks you.

Almost everyone sells gear. I don’t know if they make money on it or not but there are so many great graphics on FR that it seems like some can be donated to the site and stuff can be sold.

Jim has run this site so well for so long and he may not want to sell stuff. That’s his call.

I just don’t want FR to go away or even suffer from lack of funds especially since I can’t afford to give much myself. I’d like to contribute in some other way that FR can profit from.

I donate monthly. Would like for it to be more, but both husband and I have been laid off. Fortunately my customers are going to follow me (and have signed contracts) so I’ll be self employed.

Maybe this will all work out and I can contrib ute more, but I expect the next six months to be very difficult.

Thank you for your contribution.

There is a growing drain on FR bandwidth that comes from the ever expanding blogging community. We have bloggers that come here for one reason only. To drive hits to their sites. You’ve seen them. They toss out juicy thread titles and then excerpt their “articles” with one or two sentences, for no reason. They can post the blog article. If their blog doesn’t allow more than an except on FR, why post here???

Most of them don’t even do us the honor of including a link to FR on their blog home page.

Jim has always been a welcoming host on this site for all like-minded consevatives. The blog community has taken advantage of Jim’s big heart and I, for one, am sick and tired of their whoring for free on FR.

I don’t view their threads, I certainly won’t give them a web hit. Hell, they even post their blogs in News/Actvism in order to give them a chance to post in ‘Breaking News’.

If all y’all can donate a couple of bucks....great! If you can’t....God bless you! Do not go away!! It’s going to get better....

RANT....OFF

the Ohio Lottery money that goes "only to education"

I don't think they ever said it goes 'only' to education. People heard that it would to toward education and assumed that meant 'all.'

I became a monthly for one basic reason!

Freerepublic needs to be able to count on a money base that is rock solid.

The more monthlies, the more solid the base.

Monthlies are the ground solid donators who allow all others to give what they can in good times and bad!
