Martha's Vineyard has six townships - three built-up and three rural.
Chilmark - Popular with Wall Streeters and Washington types, but also entertainers. Musician James Taylor, comic Larry David, and actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen have homes. Singer Beyoncé stays here. So, for this week only, do the Obamas.
Edgartown - Yachties and more conservative types, including CIA chiefs, staqy here. The late Walter Cronkite and Robert McNamara, the US defence secretary, had houses. David Letterman's estate is out of town and Meg Ryan is in nearby Chappaquiddick.
Vineyard Haven - Includes the old money bastion of West Chop but singer-songwriter Carly Simon and journalist Diane Sawyer also have homes here.
West Tisbury - Left-leaning, intellectual, former hippie bastion. Historian David McCullough lives here.
Oak Bluffs - Favoured destination of the African-American elite. Spike Lee lives next to the golf course. Software tycoon Peter Norton has a grand old home.
Aquinnah - Caroline Kennedy inherited much of the land on the island's rugged western tip from her mother Jackie Onassis. Much of the rest belongs to the Wampanoag tribe. Michael J Fox also has a house here.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM.....
More like Marxist Vineyard!
Just goes to show there’s still lots of money to be made by race-pimping and “caring about the downtrodden”
LOL. Good one.

I wonder where the cocaine dealers live.
I always thought that Obama was more of a Fire Island guy.
(Cough) Provincetown (cough).
Soooo, if a really good hurricane hit there, we would be better off? Dang nab it, looks like Bill lost his way again!
Other than David McCullough who probably has some interesting historical stories to tell, I wouldn’t want to live next to any of these people.
If you look at the SW part of the island, you will find "Gay Head" just west of "Lobsterville".

EDGARTOWN, Mass. The island where "Jaws" was filmed had a real-life shark scare Thursday, when an unconfirmed sighting of a great white forced the closure of two beaches. South Beach on Martha's Vineyard was closed for a short time, and swimmers were kept out of the water at State Beach in Edgartown, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation said. A plane was dispatched to try to confirm the sighting, but no shark was spotted, said Lisa Capone, a spokeswoman for the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. In 1974, Steven Spielberg chose Martha's Vineyard for filming the movie version of "Jaws," depicting a series of deadly great white attacks in the fictional community of Amity. Shark attacks are extremely rare in waters off New England, but great whites have been known to occasionally prowl in the region.
There are a lot of drugs in and around the Vineyard and Nantucket. Whatever you want.
And here’s info about the non-celebrity residents:
According to a 2007 study by the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, housing prices are 96% higher in this AA than in other parts of the state. The year-round working population of Martha’s Vineyard earns 30% less on average than other residents of the state while keeping up with a cost of living that is 60% higher than average. The lack of affordable housing has forced many people to move off the island. There has also been a sharp decline in school enrollment. Many residents work several jobs to make ends meet, while others ferry to the island to work for the day rather than live there.

. . . and now the biggest dope in the history of Martha’s Vineyard has arrived .
I’m a Nantucket cop. Sad to say, 30 miles of moat is not enough to keep the evils of the real world away from our island. We’re just like everywhere else in this regard, sad to say.
He’s going there to have his picture taken with Kennedy.
Yup.
