Just checked the news index for articles in Japanese here in Tokyo on Barack Obama and his current difficulties.
Japan (their MSM and general populace) still is more or less in the mesmerized if not idolotrous mode over Obama akin to what was common six months ago there in the USA. (OK, give 'em time, folks!).
Link is here to the series of Japanese articles on Yahoo Japan datelined today, and linking to major Japanese newspapers online versions. Their challenge would appear to be to try to lead in and report to the Japanese People who may have the widespread impression Obama's support was still rather phenomenal back in the USA. It is an interesting challenge to see them try to address. It suggested in one Japanese article here today that Obama's public support is in a freefall and that when it comes to American politics, "a few steps ahead are clouded in mist" (politics and popularity in the US is rather unpredictable, so hence we have this situation). They picked up Sarah Palin and the "death panels" angle as well. There was also reporting of criticism of Obama heading off to vacation under this current situation (although they did not use the word "retreat" (撤退) just yet!).

I was wondering how they would spin this after their excessive news coverage in SUPPORT of him and generally rarely offering any air time to opposing viewpoints.
Best dispatch here, from Washington, had to be Yukihisa Komori, of the major Sankei Shimbun Daily, going into great detail about how such a U.S. President could go from a high point, to a crashing failure in such a short period of time. The word "Obamacare" is mentioned in most if not all of these articles. One would surmise it should become standard Japanese news lexicon now. "Obamakea".......オバマケア
Over and out, from Japan...

You know you’re a failure when the Japanese don’t like you.

Finally we are getting some reality from Foreign press. The only ones helping to wake up the sleeping class has been the Canadians, and some in the British Press.
Thank You Japan. We need all the help we can get to STOP this nightmare.

In a way, think about that little, naive, silly village in central Japan also with the name
"Obama" that went crazy over him, just because of his last name. Did anyone ever tell them they could get nuked by North Korea because of that idiot's dangerous foreign policy approach here in Northeast Asia? It never occured to them. I guess they were too busy making a buck. Well, we will see how long the Obama Rice Cooies are out for sale.

The aircraft is probably on the tarmac, engine running, waiting for Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, ready to head to Narita Airport as we speak. Part of the whole shakedown racket. Yep, it is only a matter of time somebody in D.C. pulls the “R” card, or State Department orders the new ambassador to Tokyo to go over to Nagatacho (Capitol Hill) and complain about Japanese bigoted reporting against the Messiah.

Fix up Obama for a little date with Sawajiri Erika(real-life incarnation of Japanese Manga’s favorite French-looking gal.) I wonder what will happen to the popularity of both.:-)

Japanese are projecting into Obama what they want to see from their boring, inept and frequently corrupt politician.
On the other hand, journalists are mostly air-heads all over the world. They are slightly better than show-biz celebrities in their intelligence. Feel-good buzz over substance any time.
