I found Austin Hills July 26 commentary concerning the Internet chillingly interesting. I was especially struck by the irate statements of How dare you say such horrible things about the president, which were made repeatedly. This rancorous public reaction to personal expression is disturbingly typical of a growing and vindictive social trend.
Animal defenders are finding the Internet to be an enormously effective tool for aiding animals by exposing animal exploitation. The animal rights movement continues to be viciously and relentlessly targeted by animal exploiters, and I fear that this is one of the reasons that public access to the Internet is also coming under attack: The U.S. government is one of the largest and most brutal animal users, from vile vivisection (animal experiments) to failing to uphold the vital and embattled worldwide moratorium on whaling.
With the global explosion of computer technology, animal defenders are making giant strides enlightening the public to the tragic plights of animals, which our ulterior-motivated government and its equally callous cohorts does not want. Truths have a way of becoming buried under the collective acceptance of conformity. Public polls and surveys are frequently manipulated to distort public opinion, slanting it to the surveyors advantage. Media coverage is notoriously edited to present only those comments that reflect the views of television and radio stations.
The imperative questions are, when free speech is threatened, exactly who will be controlling the speech police, and what is the insidious agenda behind that ultimate control. And what of our highly endangered Freedom of Information Act, will it survive or perish? These questions are paramount, urgently in need of scrutiny by every American.

Apparently, among the most publishable letters to the letters to the editor this day in Mesa Arizona was this one, which seems to be the work of a patient in a lunatic asylum.
Well, after all, that’s where the editor himself lives so a letter from someone on the same ward is almost a shoe in. [ facepalm ]
They doesn't?
They doesn’t want the publics enlightening the tragic plights of giant-striding animals during the global explosion.
I think the author found his adjectives in the bulk bins at the health-food store ;-).
