Virtually No U.S. Media Interest In 'Imploding' Canadian Press State-Run Health Care Story

On Sunday evening, NewsBusters colleague Noel Sheppard highlighted a health care-related story from the Canadian Press (CP), which is that country's rough equivalent to the USA's Associated Press.

It appears that the CP is more open to reporting inconvenient news than is "our" AP, judging from a report earlier that day by the CP's Jennifer Graham. In an interview with Graham, the incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association said that the supposedly idyllic wonderland known as Canadian medical care is in deep trouble. Lo and behold, Graham actually reported it:

The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country's health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made. "We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing (sic) said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

And that surprises you, Tom? They’ve already covered for Mr. Obama on crimes worse than anything Presidents Nixon, Clinton or Kennedy ever did. flag@whitehouse.gov is only one example.

Well, since nobody watches the SRM, what would be the use of them covering it?

I’m not certain, but I don’t think Canada has the Tort problems and illegal immigrant problem we have here, so it’ll be an even bigger problem for USA if we end up with federalized healthcare.

If the SRM doesn’t report it, it does exist!
Kinda like the counterproposals from the opposition of Obamacare.
Hey, SRM, there are alot of good ideas from the other side!

We don't have the tort problems you have — being as the government is the sole payer, it has an interest in reining in the cost of lawsuits.

We also don't have the illegal immigrant problems you do; but we do have a serious problem with bogus refugee claims (which amounts to the same thing, IMHO).

I've posted the following a few times already, but I think it bears repeating here:

“The Fraser Institute, a conservative think tank, has produced the definitive series of studies on Canada’s health care system. Anyone interested in knowing the facts, should read their reports. You can access them on line here:

http://www.fraserinstitute.org/researchandpublications/researchtopics/health.htm

Freepers will likely enjoy this one, for the Reaganesque title alone.

http://www.fraserinstitute.org/commerce.web/product_files/Realities-of-Health-Policy-CA.pdf

It busts a lot of health-care myths. There’s plenty of ammo there, to shoot down any Obamabot talking points.”

It’s pretty obvious that the Canadian Healthcare system is parasitic relative to the US system. If it weren’t for the US providing an outlet for Canadian citizens, their system would have collapsed long before now. I mean, is it any coincidence that Canada is making these moves now?
