Vancouver, WA: A remark U.S. Rep. Brian Baird made Wednesday in recounting a death threat he received earlier this month triggered criticism from Clark County Republicans on Thursday.

The death threat, delivered to Baird

34. Words mean things.

1. Baird has never previously disclosed this "death threat".

2. He made a sick joke about Oklahoma City bombing at the Rotary Club 2 dayts ago.

3. Baird is documented discussing Tim McVeigh and OKC four days before this supposed "death threat" was faxed to his DC office.

4. Now Baird is demonizing local Republicans for even fringing the subject up in the first place.

5. The truth is that the columbian was forced to run this story after Ms. Dustbin ignored this entire issue yesterday.

6. The truth is that there is no evidence what so ever that anyone in the State of Washington has threatened Baird in any way.

Baird continues to come up with more and more "death threats" that he has never talked about at all, until he realized he was catching heat over healthcare. This stinks to high heaven folks, because the local media is doing eveything they can to help Baird cover his ass.

In truth, when I attended the Townhall meeting the other day the only "extremists" present were two of Lyndon LaRouch's followers and they did not gain access to the event.

I’m glad you mention no evidence threat actually happened. This Critter wants us to believe his office doesn’t have caller Id. Or that the SS/FBI just go Oh well...when a Critter is threatened. I submit this “threat” NEVER occured. He needed an excuse to not have a townhall.

My esteemed Congressman, Brad Miller, brought this very example up on a radio show this morning. (He also received a "death threat").

Was an instance of the heroic efforts the congresscritters are making, dontcha know.

Interestingly enough, he was brought on to tout Health Care Reform and take calls. I listened for about 30 min....not one caller.

I hate the MSM, almost as much as I hate pols.

You will notice that even though Baird claims this happened on August 10, and was supposedly reported to the Capitol Police, the reporter-ette Ms. Dustbin could not be bothered to pick up the phone and call them to find out:

(A) Was a report really filed by Baird?

(B) Did he talk to the Capitol Police personally or did a Staffer?

(C) Where did these faxed “threats” originate? If they did not come from a 360 area code, then they did not come from Baird’s 3rd District.

(D) What is the current status of that investigation?

(E) Is a copy of the official complaint/police report available??

(F) Why wait until now to report this? Why was this not reported when it happened? The columbian waited until the day of the first townhall to run an inflammatory picture of Obama that was supposedly faxed to Baird’s Office around this same time. There is only one reason why this material is being trickled out, and that is to provide Brian Baird with maximum cover.

The fact is the columbian was forced to print this story today because of the work of a number of local bloggers who have been raising bloddy hell about this in as many formats as we can find. I assure you, this story would never have been written, ahd it not first appeared on the local blogosphere, and then on FreeRepublic shortly thereafter.

Strike another blow for Freedom here on Free Republic...

Here’s a serious question for you guys to answer: If I call the Capitol Police, will they even talk to me?? I’m willing to burn up some long distance time and I have a fax machine and a scanner...

You are correct. These are very convenient calls
The police and or FBI will be able to find the source of the call and if it is true that news should be made public

I am doubting it will

Simple question to all supposed “Journalists” have any of these supposed “Death Threats” been reported to the Police? I suspect if you investigate these Leftist claims, you will find they have not filed a police report on any of them.

I just got off of the telephone with the Capitol Hill Police Department, Records and Reports. That office is responsible for initiating any and all incident and complaint reports for the Capitol Hill Police Department. I spoke with the very polite and helpful lady there who is responsible for typing any kind of a report like Brian Baird is claiming was filed.

I asked her specifically if she had a report of a telephoned threat that stated “You think Timothy McVeigh was bad, there is a Ryder Truck out there with your name on it,” or anything remotely similar to a statement like that.

She said that if anything like that had happened to any member of Congress, she whold know about it. She has heard nothing, repeat NOTHING like what Brian Baird claims to have reported to the Capitol Hill Police.

What’s more, she also has no record whatsoever of any complaints filed from any Congress Critter about a faxed “threat” like Baird also says he filed.

Don’t take my word for any of this. Call the Capitol Hill Police Department Records and Reports Office yourself at 202-593-4099 and ask them yourself.

This whole thing is a carefully constructed lie.

In addition, I left my name and number with the Capitol Hill Police, and asked her to check on this again, and if she found anything out, to please call me back. She agreed and I thanked her profusely for her help.

You'd think someone in the media would want to know if the FBI had any leads on who called in a supposed "death threat".

Or that Baird is a liar, like the rest of them (Democrats) are. They would have to at least confirm there was a threat, and they were looking into it.

He probably dreamed it and really believes it. It takes a really sick mind to be a Democrat/Liberal leader.

Excellent. You should pass this info to fox news, with a note to get off their butts and do some investigative journalism for a change, instead of taking everything these Democrat LIARS say at face value.

Maybe with any luck, someone at fox will go ask Baird with a camera in his face why there is no record of his alleged threat.

Thanks for going to the trouble to check out the seemingly phony death threat Baird speaks of, it’s really not surprising that it’s probably a lie.

I doubt Lou or Dustbin will have much more to say on the subject, they’ve been in a full cover mode for Baird since being forced to change his mind on the town halls and the apology he was forced to make due to the realization of being voted out of office in the next election.

He’s a typical RAT, he’ll do or say anything to stay in office and the local enemedia backs him up.

It is the policy of The Columbian newspaper to "report the news we think you need to know." If was in a column by the editor, Lou Brancaccio, several years ago. Not the news you want to know, but the news "we think you need to know".

The Columbian doesn't think the public needs to know that Clark County Superior court Judge is a drunkard and has probably been pull over for drunk driving and let go on at least one occasion. Shouldn't be a surprise since the county sheriff was also once pulled over for drunk driving and eluding a police officer on June 24, 1998. The Columbian knew about that, too.

The paper also didn't think their readers needed to know that Sheriff Lucas' wife divorced him several years ago because he was screwing a woman he was counseling as a lay pastor at the church he attended.

This is only a very small sampling of what The Columbian didn't think the public needed to know.

I think it is important to note that the columbian got 57 “replies” on thier article at their website, including a long comment from Brett Boger, who attended the Rotary event and witnessed Kathy Durbin’s presence at that address, and verified she was right there when Baird made the comment.

However, the columbian has allowed Dustbin’s article to slide down the electronic pecking order until it no longer shows up on the news pages. If you do not have a link to that story, you would never know it existed.

And pretending it doesn’t exist appears to be the strategery “Editor” Lou Brancaccio is following. He published his usual painful to read Saturday “editorial” today and doesn’t say “boo”, “sic-’em” or “kiss my ass” about the major lie his paper helped propagate on behalf of representative Baird.

There is no mention of a Saturday editorial “Jeer”, there is not one letter to the editor about Baird or Durbin’s outrageous lies, and I think it’s clear that the columbian is already trying to sweep this unpleasant little mess under the rug, and hoping that evil old sonofabitch with the computer out in East Vantucky will STFU on his local blog...

Fat chance Lou...

The people at the Columbian are buddies with those in the Clark County government and courts. Remember when Scott Campbell had no problem building his house in the Columbia River Gorge when no one else could without being held up for years?
