For the 5th straight month, Public Policy Polling finds Mike Huckabee the strongest 2012 contender against Barack Obama (click here for poll).
1. Barack Obama 47% Mike Huckabee 44%
2. Barack Obama 47% Mitt Romney 40%
3. Barack Obama 49% Newt Gingrich 41%
4. Barack Obama 52% Sarah Palin 38%
Favorability ratings:
a. Obama 52%/42%
b. Huckabee 45%/28%
c. Gingrich 33%/42%
d. Palin 40%/49%
e. Romney 37%/34%
Notes: Huckabee receives positive favorability ratings in every income group, while Palin receives negative ratings in every income group, except those making less than 25K/year.
Interestingly, that same income group gives Romney a -3% rating, so you can see a bit of the socio-economic divide between the two candidates' supporters.
In a 2012 matchup, Obama beats each GOP candidate in every income group, except Mitt Romney in the 100k+ group.
Favorability ratings among the age groups are pretty fascinating. Newt, Palin, and Romney are all most popular among the +65 set, which isn't great news for the GOP.
But Mike Huckabee bucks the trend and has positive favorables among every age group, with his strongest support (at +26%) coming from 18-29 year-olds.

Good Grief.
Please.
It’s a Public Policy Poll.
sniff sniff sniff.....methinks I smell PEE. PeePeePee poll
Public Policy Polling poll. There. I think that’s correct.
PPP is a RAT polling outfit in North Carolina.
Unfortunately... I couldn’t vote for Huckabee!
The only I can say for sure is running is Romney......
Huck and Gingrich aren’t going to run.
Sarah I think it will depend if she can rehibilitate her image. The Democrats will hate her no matter what. The conservatives will lover her no matter what. It’s the independents where she needs help. Last poll I saw, 59% of independents had a negative veiw of her. If she can fix that and is successful in getting Republican congressional candiates elected in 2010, she will throw her hat in the ring.
Also consider Jim DeMint. I think jhe is quietly building up a campaig for 2012. He has been very outspoken agaisnt all 0bama’s policies.
I think Huck wants to run. I dont know if he will, but I think he wants to.
