My first vote was for Ronald Reagan in 1980. I remember very well the sense of hope, of purpose, of giddiness at the unlimited potential of this great country. At the time, nothing seemed impossible, and we thought the greatness of America would simply go on forever.
I can’t begin to describe the stark change in attitude from then to now. I never used to think America was finished as a great nation. I’m starting to believe otherwise.
“My first vote was for Ronald Reagan in 1980.”

I missed voting for Goldwater, by less then a year, haha...voting age was 21 then.
Reagan gave a lot of spirit to the world, and especially
to central Europe, where I enjoyed some years of living,
long after the fall of the iron curtain.

The old building with the gun ramps is still there.
