The man accused of killing Neda Soltan has been identified as Abbas Kargar Javid, a pro-government militiaman, after photographs of the Basijis ID cards appeared on the internet.
The identification challenges the Iranian regimes claim that foreign agents shot the young woman, who became a global symbol of resistance to the Government of President Ahmadinejad.
One picture appears on Mr Javids Basij identification card, which was taken off him by the crowd that stopped him briefly when he fled the murder scene during a massive demonstration against electoral fraud on June 20.
Photographs of that card and another that was issued by the Interior Ministry have been posted on the internet, and the doctor who tried to save Ms Soltan as she lay dying on a Tehran pavement has confirmed that they show the man who was stopped.
I can testify for certain that it is the same person, Arash Hejazi told The Times.

Ping.
I thought it was a random bullet
Thank you, Jesus ...
And remember, she was wearing a cross around her neck.
I think she was singled out for that reason.
God Bless Neda’s soul and may her death not be in vain.
He confessed to the crowd he didn’t mean to kill her, he only wanted to shoot her in the leg. People die everyday from being shot in the leg, you murderous thug. The shooter hits an artery and the victim bleeds out.
May justice for darling Neda be swift and final.
Ping!

It’s not just his phone which has been disconnected, the regime has since killed this man.
And the reason for the killing was that Neda resembled the sister of an important female protestor the Mullahs wanted to kill and Neda was supposed to be a warning to that person.
Opportunistic target but not random. And he shot to kill but would clearly not admit this to a hostile crowd.
