About the AARP membership flight...
at least 60,000 old people die every six months. Did 60,000 say they were leaving because of healthcare reform stance or is this just loss of membership period?
Post - They normally lose 300,000 and gain 400,000 new members per month...
Post - That was out of 40 MILLION total members
Just taking care of the little peoples.
the 60k plus was people who stated they were leaving because of the aarp support of the reform. they did not release actual losses as there may have been a lot more who left because of same reason but did not state it as such...
40 million members?
one out of ever 5 people in the USA is a member?
The dead don’t cut up their AARP cards and return them with angry notes. Sheesh!
2 out of every 15.
Hmmmm
Can't be right. I'm a former member (quit 3 years ago), but they still mail me useless trash every week or so. Their mailing list probably IS 40 million.
Yeah they mail me stuff and I’m only 30!
I used to be a member of AARP and let my membership lapse when I saw how they were working against my best interests...but it was prior to this current issue. Bottom line, they’ve lost more than just the 60k because of their politics, but many of us are invisible to the statistics.
Every person that buys insurance,or prescription drugs, or who knows what else from the AARP, automatically becomes a “member” of the AARP, and those so-called members in huge numbers lend artifical but useful political clout to the machinations of the AARP central office executives and staff as they pursue a political agenda of their own crafting. Congressmen that don’t know better can be swayed by that huge AARP membership figure.
No way do I believe that they have 40 million current members. That would be about half the US population aged 50 and over. Impossible!
Maybe 40 million people have been members at one time or another, or they consider you a member as long as you have plunked down 5 bucks sometime in the last five years. Or some other strange definition of membership. But it’s just impossible that they had 40 million memberships in a single year.
No wonder Congress is so afraid of them; they’ve been lying about their numbers.
But they keep voting.
Drop the AARP!

Very true...
One, the adverse advertisements are not exactly advantageous.
Two, More and more members are beginning to realize that they are not for the elderly but for the Democratic Party.
Three, there is an alternative...
Four, Let AARP suck wind with this kind of publicity...
I am old enough to join this socialist organization and its discounts - not in my lifetime! These creeps deserve to eventually go down with Obams...
There are still many, many people who are going to leave as soon as they find insurance to replace what they have now!
Very ALIVE people ripped up their AARP cards.
" According to AARP they left because of the position AARP has taken on healthcare.
