We’re gonna be anyway, no matter how this health care thing goes. The economy will collapse, it will be global, and all that will matter is how much gunpowder, lead, and food you have compared to the next guy.

The country does not have the character it did in the GD and there was no worldwide (1st world, that is) entitlement mentality.

This will go very badly for a lot of people. And this health care thing is utterly irrelevant except that if they pass it, we may be able to count the time to the collapse in days rather than months.

If any version of this bill passes, no matter how truncated, the whole thing will be in place after a couple of years. Bits and pieces of the stuff will be added as amendments to every piece of legislation that gets considered and agencies will regulate parts of it back into the law and courts will “decide” other parts back into it.

Yep. Once this monster is signed into law and is a couple of years old, the damage will have been done. The country will be broke, the government will be bloated like a wood tick on a dog's ear, and socialism will be the way it is. At that point there won't be too many options.
