We Have a Tire Track On Our Chest": President Obama Faces Possible Rebellion of House Democrats
ABC News ^ | 8/18/09 | Jake Tapper

The president's liberal allies on health care reform have a message for the president: Don't think you can drop the public option without a fight.

"If the president thinks we're gonna get the votes without the public option, he's got another think coming," Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-NY, told ABC News. "That won't pass the House."

Over the weekend, the President seemed to change his tone on whether a final health care reform bill had to include a public option -- something that just two months ago, he indicated was a deal-breaker.

Just because you tossed it under the bus doesn't mean it's dead. Socialized medicine is like the Terminator. It just keeps coming back and coming back and if you keep even a little piece of it, it will likely be rebuilt.

To which Obama’s chief advisor, Rahm Emanuel probably said “I’ve heard ducks fart under water before”.

“That’s exactly right, and you saw over the weekend Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius also said that it looked like the end of life care provisions would also be gone from the bill. And that’s another area where they had hoped to achieve real cost savings”

This is just blather. The libs will end up supporting the idea of co-op’s and act all disappointed that there is no “public option. But the co-op’s will be so regulated they will quickly morph into Gov’t Health Care, while giving the so-called Blue Dogs necessary cover.

Well said. This has to be totally killed or it will be like a hydra...when you cut it up into pieces but don’t kill it, it simply regrows itself into many, many more hydras.

We will be able to “defund” the co-ops ~ of course, that won’t take place until after all the Obamistas are prosecuted and sent to prison (business as usual in Washington).

It's a bluff. Politics is the art of the possible, and you take what you can get. Certain radical followers may consider the Dem majority a blank check but practical politicians know better, or should. 100 Dems voting against their guy in the White House because they don't get a pony for Christmas are 100 Dems who are going to end up with empty begging bowls come time for a 2010 endorsement. That's how the game is played, boys.

That said, I wish they would. But they won't.

Hell ha its a bluff. These co-ops will be a back door for the government to come in and take over. To answer the MSM that will say this is exaggeration I have the following examples: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG.

I agree with you on the rebuilt if any of it passes...that's the way democrats work..

I think O is playing congress also...He can get some creds. for opposing it while knowing he will get all he wants eventually if it goes thorough. Nancy won't back down to him, and those dumb conservatives and independents will like him for his courage in standing up to Miss Nancy in the House..

"public option"
"Public" is a euphemism for government.

And "option" is boob bait for the bubbas. It will quickly become the only game in town - indeed, that is largely true for retirees, right now.

all one needs to do is look at the original social security act and how it has grown to gigantic proportions over the years, they get a foot in the door and we will lose the whole house.
