The angle that I didn’t think about is that in the movie, no one knows who the Joker is. No ID, no history, no record, no real name. It’s almost as if he appeared out of nowhere to bring an unholy chaos to Gotham.

In that sense, Obama is similar because how much do we really know about him? So much is hidden AND like the Joker always makes up new stories about his past to explain his actions and make his personal narrative more interesting. Like Obama claiming he had a secretary and had lunches with German and Japanese businessmen when, in fact, he was a junior copy editor.

Good point. The Joker is always changing the story about his motivation and how he got his scar. Everything depends upon the person he is talking to at a given moment and what he feels will be the most successful strategy in dealing with that person.
