We joke about that, but if they actually offered an attachment, I’d consider getting one for a grocery-getter/riding lawnmower.

A Mexican-built Fiat. That will be the worst car ever made. It’ll make the Renault Alliance look like a Porsche.

H, that FIAT 500, with the 1.1 liter turbo diesel is backordered over 250,000 units in Europe. 1.6TD an option. You are talking about 65mpg, and peppy performance. (No, not 0-60 in 5 seconds! Under 10 seconds.) It is a cool car.

It is (or could be) absolutely the VW Beetle of the next generation, IF The Green Wienies allow the Diesel in. Put in AC, a CD player, and the supersecret FIAT automatic (actually the old DAF Automatic improved)and it can be delivered around what .... $16 Gs?

As an added benefit, taking on an 18-wheeler full of lead pigs means "0" survivors, so it lowers the cost of The Great Obama Health Plan and puts stimulus money in the hands of reconstructive undertakers. That's on Page 1836, Paragraph 122, Sec B, para 3 (KIA) not the car, the acronym, which might also be the same thing.

The new Fiat 500 is proving to be quite popular in Europe where the crew from the Top Gear web site had a chance to try out the 1.3L diesel model. The cute little 500 draws plenty of attention on the streets of London, but it's what's under the skin that counts. The handling and steering are far superior to what one might expect from a little car like this. It corners flat and turns in smoothly. The 75hp 1.3L MultiJet diesel provides plenty of performance and still delivers 56 mpg (U.S.) on the EU combined cycle. According to Top Gear's scribe, even when the fashion aspect of the 500 fades, this will still be one fine little ride.

Heres a review by an English motor writer that contains better facts..

b4, there's a problem. FIAT also sold this platform to Ford to use in its city "KA" concept.

So, they’re changing the name to “Fix it again, taco-breath”? Poor Tony is out of a job.

Relax. It's in the KA,(Now I ask you, wtf would name a machine the "KA?) a metrosexual sort of urban thing they make in Poland for Europe. Ford just borrowed the Panda platform and the 1.3L turbo Diesel.

The rally versions of these Fords and FIATS, if they ever make it here, will finally give old white guys the chance to run with those Chicanos in their buzz-bomb Honda Civics.

Take that, Ese! Plus, with tasteful ground effect neons, no one at the rest home will ignore me anymore!

What does the “500” name stand for? 500cc?

1.4 litres

Actually it's a legacy name. Like the BMW "Mini". the makers are trying to emulate the success of the original Fiat 500 (a genuine 500cc straight two) of 50 years ago
