FAIRFIELD, Vt. — Finding the "birthplace" of President Chester A. Arthur is easy: Turn left at Town Hall and its Chester A. Arthur Conference Room, go past Chester's Bakery and turn right on Chester A. Arthur Road.

Nearly five miles up the winding two-lane country road, past rolling hills and dairy farms, is the tiny Chester A. Arthur Historic Site, proclaiming the spot where the nation's 21st president was born in a cottage.

Or was he?

The biggest difference is that Arthur was a real patriot. Obama is communist quisling bent on destroying the Republic.

If you want to find Obama’s birthplace, all you have to do is follow the Star Of David until you see three wise men around a manger.

If they are prepared to dig up poor old Chester Arthur, does that mean they are conceding the argument?

Whatever.

I want to see the original birth certificate, and I want to know what citizenship he claimed in college. Thats it. I’m not accusing him of anything. Its a pretty simple request.

Quit with the Chester Arthur. There will be time enough to talk about that after he answers the question.

"Democrats, meanwhile, hired a lawyer named Arthur Hinman who sought to discredit Arthur, claiming he was born in Dunham, Quebec"

Goodness gracious. That name sounds awful familiar... History repeating itself ?

Isn’t the issue Arthur’s father’s birthplace, and not Chester’s? I always thought his father wasn’t a (naturalized) U.S. citizen when Chester was born and, thus, Chester could not have been a natural born U.S. citizen.

I think Chester’s father was foreign born, Ireland, I think, and moved first to Canada. However, he did move to Vermont by 1825. However, if the naturalization laws at that time required five year residency, I don’t see how he could have been a naturalized U.S. citizen by the time Chester was born in 1829.

To date I have been unable to find the actual date his U.S. naturalization occurred, Chester’s father, that is.

Am I missing something here?

Considering the source, I believe they are trying to muddy the water. If Arthur’s citizenship was in question because of a foreign father, Obama’s would be also. How many people will remember that it was Arthurs father that was the problem? Most will buy this version.

But if Chester was born here on the soil of the USA even if his father wasn't naturalized then he'd be natural born wouldn't he?
(Well, it works for the "anchor babies" doesn't it?)

Arthur would be a citizen but not a natural born citizen.

This looks like a preemptive trial balloon in case this turns out to be a big deal.

The WH lawyers are feeding stuff to their MSM buds already to say "we had one President who did it anyway...so even if it were true, it's no biggie".

Precisely, and that has been the issue all along. His father was actually born in Ireland, I believe, but then became a Canadian citizen. That is the real issue, and I think this article is yet another attempt to reframe the argument.

Interesting if the Chester Arthur stuff is coming from the White House. Usually you only move to a fall back position after the original position has been substantially eroded.

Maybe the "birther" movement has scored some unseen points to move the WH to the fall back position. Hmmm.

The real questions aree:

Is it rational that Obama fought the release of his records all the way the Supreme Court?

Would an honest and straight forward person who loves his country spend 1.4 million to hide his origins? It should be an **honor** and a source of great pride to provide all the documentation.

Who is being irrational here? Someone who says, “Please show us the proof that you are natural born?” , or, someone who spends 1.4 million, and fights it to the Supreme Court?

If Arthur did what Obama is doing I would be just as suspicious and I would think Arthur was mentally unstable ( or a traitorous criminal), too.
