Having dealt with e-mail lists and understanding the problems that can come from others ending up signing a person up and with people complaining about “spam e-mail” — it actually sounds more like the White House (at least this administration) is getting an early lesson in managing e-mail lists and how to *confirm* when someone actually wants on an e-mail list.
That’s something to be done by a confirmation e-mail in which — if — someone does not respond to the e-mail (in which it is explained what that means) — that they will not be placed on the e-mailing list.
It’s something that people who do manage “responsible e-mail lists” do all the time.
The White House, and this current administration sounds like they didn’t know how to handle it in the first place and that they are finally learning how to manage an e-mail list... LOL...
“We are implementing measures to make subscribing to e-mails clearer, including preventing advocacy organizations from signing people up to our lists without their permission when they deliver petition signatures and other messages on individual’s behalf,” spokesman Nick Shapiro said in a statement Sunday night.”
