“Senators Lincoln and Dorgan are up for re-election in 2010 and are from states that would be hurt economically from a cap and trade bill similar to the one passed by the House in June. “

This is all it is about, re-election. THEN they’ll sell out their constituents. Throw them the hell out of office.

If the GOP had half a brain they’d offer up my suggestion, which I offered to my nitwit (D) rep a few weeks back: a nationwide RPS plus an “all of the above” approach to other sources. Let’s get off foreign energy first, then work on economically sound non-fossil alternatives here at home.

She may end up with a pink slip and having to hit the streets looking for a real job.

No. She has been able to generate huge sums of money for herself and her hubby through no bid contracts awarded to hubby! So, through her underhanded operating, she and hubby are set for life.

Correct! The Speaker does not have to be a sitting member of Congress. You can also be Pope without being a priest...

Don’t think either have ever happened.

Thanks for the new tagline

I love the TJ quote. I’d like to see it paraphrased well for modern ears and used by SP or others such as De Mint

Slowly, the handful of rat congresspersons who have two brain cells firing are noticing that the sleeping giant has awakened, is wiping the sleep from its eyes and shows no signs of drifting off again in the near future.

Some assholes like McCain, Snowe, Collins, Graham and a couple others will throw in their support. It may be enough to offset the recalcitrant rats.

Conrad is in the senate, not the House. North Dakotan rats, with the exception of the insidious, ubiquitous leftist contingent, are much more moderate than rats are nationally. Conrad has been in the senate for four terms. That’s a long time in dog/political hack years and he’s probably passed his shelf life date. Supporting cap ‘n hoax would bring his death rattle. North Dakotans may well be ready for someone more conservative than a marginal moderate anyway, and support of cap ‘n hoax would likely put them over the edge.

Other major chinks in Conrad’s armor are the facts that he supported ostammer starting a year before the election and he sits as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. You know - that so bloated and inflated budget signed into law a few months ago? That same budget that is several times larger than it’s ever been before?

But the stupid pub candidate probably will sit there like a milquetoast with his finger up his nose, not bringing any of this to the forefront during the campaign. Even slugs like Conrad run circles around pubs politically.

Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad both of North Dakota are urging the Senate to delay legislation that puts caps on greenhouse gas emissions and instead, pass a narrow bill that sets requirements on the use of renewable energy.

I’ve no problem with your list as long as “clean coal” is defined as having nothing to do with the amount of the plant fertilizer, CO2, that is released.

If they kept it simple: More atomic power for those who care about economics (must also relax regulatory environment), I can be convinced to accepting in return a mandate for some more renewables (which also may require regulatory change).

Of course, I’d like them to just leave their hands off coal, and let oil and gas expansion proceed at the free market pace.

Transmission lines can handle themselves if the feds would just get out of the way. If the wind power people, or any others, require some type of special transmission or control equipment to integrate into the system, they should bear the entire cost, not force those costs to be borne by existing customers and utilities.

If I build a store 2 miles away from the nearest road, the city, state or people should bear no responsibility for the costs of letting people drive to my door... it is my responsibility to provide for that in my own plans. I have no problem with Pickens or anyone building windmills, but let HIM figure out how to get his product out the door. It is part of the cost of his product.

If we keep after them, if we stand strong against these marxists...we WILL take them down.

---<>---<>---<>---<>---<>---

Indeed.

We must behave like Patton, Rommel, Stonewall Jackson and US Grant and pursue them vehemently as they retreat. Forget that you are out of breath- so is the enemy. Give them no time to regroup- don't let them get out of sight and hide. Keep after them until they are utterly broken and defeated in detail.

However, Jeff, these are not Marxists we're working against. See THIS LINK to see why they much more properly bear the appelation of FASCISTs.

Agreed: set the standards, relax the regs of how to get there, and then let the free market sort out the rest.

We had better fight that one harder than we have fought for anything, because the illegals will all vote RAT, and that will be the end of a two party government. It will be the end of America! Literally!!

Carville knows this all too well when he forecasts the RAT rule for the next 40 years. This round III (Amnesty for illegal aliens) is every bit as important to the RATS as the destruction of the Free Market Capitalistic system.

"Progressive" is code for either socialism or fascism... I haven't decided which. Perhaps it should become the word used for fascists who, like communists, eschew the notion of nations, but unlike communists, only wish to CONTROL, not own, business.

As far as I have been able to discover, that is a political philosophy which currently bears no name.

That would make:

Progressive is to Fascist :: as :: Communist is to Socialist.

To make it more clear, Progressive is a MORE EXTREME form of Fascism, just as Communism is a more extreme form of Socialism. . . . Both apply to a "one world government" philosophy. However in Progressivism, the means of production is CONTROLLED and REGIMENTED by government, whereas in Communism it is OWNED by government.

Since Pelosi and Dear Leader describe themselves as "Progressive", and they are more extreme than Fascists when it comes to the devolution of "nation-states" but Fascist in every other way (see this link), this would fit their own self description as well as provide a textbook example of Progressivism- a more extreme form of Fascism.
