The following is an edited transcript of an Aug. 10 Arizona Daily Star interview with U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. The transcript has been edited for clarity.
STAR: It's very different to be kind of on the outskirts of what's happening and watching this whole health care debate just implode on itself. And then when I read Daniel Scarpinato's story Sunday about the gun, I mean, what's happening. Why is this happening with health care. Why is this such a volatile issue?
GIFFORDS: I don't know the answer to that. I could talk to you about my perspective. I was first elected in 2000. So I've gone through five campaigns. I've never seen anything like this before. Not through the Iraq war when you saw a lot of protesters, a lot of anger about what was happening in Iraq.
Folks on both sides coming out with that issue, not with immigration which has been one of the most hostile debate topics that we've had in this country; not with any other issue this community has faced. Even 9/11 when that really traumatized the country and we saw a lot of outpouring of people, have we ever seen something that has really appeared like this.
My position, and you all know me, I've obviously been a very active member with the Congress, is to listen to my constituents; it's to learn from the best information that's available; and then ultimately make sound, rational decisions that's going to be beneficial for the people of the eighth congressional district. That's my job.
And what is seen in the last couple of weeks is that people want to have created for them a form where they can be disruptive rather than actually providing the information in a way that's going to give me their perspective.....

She’s one of the most loathesome creatures in Congress.

You probably also remember the three full-page, Sunday-newspaper spread about her “green wedding”... More free advertising for someone typically hiding from us.
That “people like you” bit on her webpage gets really old. It is reminiscent of “you people” and that's how Gabby regards herself, as a freaking queen. Have you seen the glitzy sign in front of her congressional office here?

She is.... and I do not use the flip-sides-of-the-same-coin words lightly, a complete fascist and Bolshevik at the same time. She might come across to the sheeple as ms. next-door-neighbor, but DO not dare to cross her or your job is at risk, if you question her in public at a “town hall” at your place of employment. And her snitches and body guards make sure we can never get too close.
The Bolshevik part comes from her perpetual class warfare. The other day I heard her talking about the U.S. being the “wealthiest nation in the world.” She was at a ribbon-cutting for a new health clinic, telling everyone how we need to redistribute “the wealth” some more....

Yes, I saw it for the first time last Saturday, and was shocked and even showed Mountain Woman.
Every time you get annoyed with Gabby, blame the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and their meddling with the 2006 CD8 GOP primary election.
I’m scared about what they’re going to do to any future conservative candidates. Active sabotage or passive destruction this time?
