From the story:
Within days, symptoms of GBS were reported among those who had been immunised and 25 people died from respiratory failure after severe paralysis. One in 80,000 people came down with the condition. In contrast, just one person died of swine flu.
As a result of the vaccinations?
More than 40 million Americans had received the vaccine by the time the programme was stopped after ten weeks. The US Government paid out millions of dollars in compensation to those affected.
So, of 40,000,000 people vaccinated, there were 25, or one in 1,600,000, who died from this condition (which may or may not have been a result of the vaccine) versus one in 40,000,000 who died from what they were vaccinated against. Sounds like it worked.

From further down in the story after the mention of a "possible" eight-fold increase in GBS while discussing the etiology of GBS and saying that no one really knows how it is caused:
However, it is thought that one in a million people who have a seasonal flu vaccination could be at risk and it has also been linked to people recovering from a bout of flu of any sort.
If the usual rate of GBS following a seasonal flu vaccination is 1:1,000,000 and that of those getting it following the immunization for swine flu is 1:160,000,000, then one could say that getting the vaccination reduced their risk of getting GBS to 1/160 of that of other flu-vaccinated people. So the overall message of this story is that not only is your chance of getting a potentially deadly swine flu greatly reduced by the vaccination, so are your chances of getting GBS.

Just a thought.
I wonder how many non-vaccinated people would have even been exposed to the virus in the first place had some terrified self-centered, pansy-arsed little jerk not allowed him/herself to be infected with the virus in the first place?
Hmmmm? I guess we'll never no eh? No one ever wants to do studies on the residual effects brought on by these "vaccinations". Just so long as the one getting the shot thinks he/she is protected that alone justifies endangering the lives of every person he/she comes in contact with. Personally, I think that anyone that wants to receive the vaccination do so with the understanding that he/she will be quarantined for the duration of 30 days or longer should the effects have not worn off by the end of that 30 day period of time. This way we can insure that no one will contract the disease from a government infected "Typhoid Mary."

Again... Just a thought.

Should be a no brainer then- Get the shot to help prevent GBS- those that do get GBS most likely would have contracted it anyways even if they hadn’t received the shot, but since they got the shot, they automatically attribute it to the shot- that’s the problem with anectdotal cases-

Folks who take this or that ‘miracle formula’ put out by various vitimin companies, will say6 soemthign like “I prevented myself fro mgetting (cancer, diabetese, this that or hte other hting) because I took such and such a product-” but how in the world do they know they wouldn’t have got htose things even if they hadn’t taken the product? Or someoen wil lclaim “My cancer went into remission after takign hte product’ Yeah? And these peopel know that they weren’t actually one of hte folks who woudkl have naturally experienced spontanious remission how again?

In the early years of course, there were documented cases of GBS from the spanish flu shots, but htis was an extreme case, and exceptional case- the flu shots have been for htem ost part fairly safe, and have mostl ikely prevented many more deaths in the sick and elderly, than have caused problems in those same folks-

I’m not suggesting that the new swine flu vaccine is safe, we just don’t know yet, but as you point out, what we do know already, is proving that it actually reduces hte risk of aquiring GBS, and will help prevent a known deadly flu as well

We need more data
