Political Insider Health care activism forces Dick Armey to resign 4:44 pm August 14, 2009, by Jim Galloway
Former U.S. House majority leader Dick Armey is the keynote speaker at Saturdays anti-health care reform rally in Atlantas Centennial Park.
But as of today, hes also underemployed. This from Politico.com:
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) is resigning from DLA Piper law firm amid a wave of negative attention his grassroots organization, Freedom Works, has drawn for helping to organize protesters at health care town hall meetings with members of Congress.
In an interview Armey said that he was concerned about the media scrutiny the health care protests were drawing to the firm he has been associated with since retiring from Congress.
The firm is busy with its business, and shouldnt be asked to take time out from their work, to defend themselves of spurious allegations, Armey said. No client of this firm is going to be free to mind its own business without harassment as long as Im associated with it.
In a statement, DLA Piper Chairman Frank Burch said the parting was mutual.
When is the last time an ACORN leader had a job that he/she could resign from?
He's not the coward, DLA Piper is. His leaving was "mutual," meaning they asked him to resign. He says that he agrees with their reasons, and if the firm is being threatened by the forces of the gubmint, they feel that they have no choice.
Some pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor (Armey), but most curl up in a ball and wish it would all go away (DLA Piper).
I saw him on TV last week-—he didn’t look like a happy camper about this mess!
I can relate to your not wanting to run yourself ... it would never suit me either, personally, (it’s that half a brain thing) but I’ve made a point of finding candidates who I could support by doing gopher volunteer work .. gotta start somewhere.
On the constitutional qualifications issues, I am a pure agnostic. I just believe the American people have a right to have the documents produced. If he’s a natural born citizen, fine. Not wedded to his being NOT a natural born citizen. Or his being a Muslim, or whatever ... I just want the docs produced, including college records, but esp the bc.
And I don't think the public needed anyone to nudge them to speak up. Wikipedia is so obviously biased. *sigh*
“The Drug Companies had hired Armeys lobby shop to lobby Congress in support of Obamacare. Armey refused to support Obamacare - so the firm gave him a choice: support Obamacare or seek work elsewhere. Many GOPers on K street are supporting Obamacare - an obvious example is former Congressman Billy Tauzin.”
How can this be? Isn’t this the lobby Armey founded?
Or are you referring to the law firm?
Geesh - no true GOPer is supprting that.
It must be bought off RHINO’s.
Still wouldn't Armey have a lawsuit against them for this coercion?
“Army is not an attorney, he’s a lobbyists, the firm other clients are Pissed. “
Armey’s FreedomWorks takes the Bush/McCain/Palin position and FAVORS comprehensive immigration reform and supports a path to citizenship for illegal aliens = AMNESTY

I know, Dick Army , Newt and Gramm, got the republican majority canned. It was all about them and their personal agendas.
