Lumberyard owner now exempt from COBRA requirements is begging Obama to force her into it!!!

I missed her (had to mute the tube, O/Load). I'm not familiar with COBRA as it applies to an owner and why they would be exempt or couldn't opt in voluntarily.

I know that it costs the employer to manage the payments, but I think that's it. It's basically billing ex employees who are allowed to stay in the companies plan (for x amount of allowable months).

It might even be beneficial for the company if it allows them to meet a threshold for number of enrollees.

As to a lumberyard asking for more regulation, that's insane. They seem to be closing every 4~6 months here. If it's not the government/enviros closing down logging areas, it's a lack of demand for wood.

A medicare deduction of about 100 dollars a month is taken from the SS of those seniors receiving medicare. It goes up every year and can wipe out any increase in the SS received each month. In addition, there are limitations and copays on treatment and Dr visits. That is why so many medicare recipients pay for supplemental health insurance. Also, medicare has been expanded to cover not only retired people but other categories as well. As with social security payouts often being talked about as going only to retired workers, that too has been expanded to cover far more than those over 65 yrs. Obamacare will have to encompass all of these as well as other govt programs or entitlements dealing with health issues,in addition to secular insurance, HMO'S etc. There is no safe haven for anybody involved. There will only be enforced generic healthcare programs where we will all, excepting the elite ruling socialist democrats, wind up. Stay well everybody. p>
