From the office of Congressman Dan Lungren:
As your Representative, I strive to keep communication open so that I may better serve you. Town hall meetings are a wonderful way for constituents to ensure I am well-informed of local issues and concerns and for me to provide immediate answers to any questions you may have. This line of communication between citizens and their representatives is so important to me that I pioneered the use of the tele-town hall format, where I can reach several thousand constituents at once with a single phone call. I have encouraged the use of this new technology by my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
This August, the town hall meetings promise to be especially passionate as Members of Congress go back to our homes to discuss health care reform legislation with our constituents. As discussions become passionate, it is important for us to remain civil so that we can dialogue with one another on the important matters before Congress that affect each of us and our families. I expect that my town halls in Citrus Heights, Jackson, and Rancho Cordova will be courteous, and I look forward to engaging in a productive dialogue with all of my constituents.
Civic engagement, such as participation in town halls, is uniquely democratic. The freedom of speech and the right to assemble are enshrined in the First Amendment in the Constitution. The exercise of these Constitutionally-protected freedoms is decidedly American.
Put this in contrast to the last minute stealth meetings hosted at SEIU halls and stacked with dems let in through the back door before the front doors even open...
I hope he has taken the time to read the Bill. I like Dan and plan on being at one of the Town Hall meetions. He should especially look at this site http://www.24thstate.com/2009/07/healthcare-reform-will-ruin-your-insurance-and-your-job.html
I like his position on the health care bill, but I am GRAVELY concerned about this SAFE Commission junk he’s peddling.
I can't find it anywhere on his website
Thanks.
I did find this, from Aug 3rd.
