Just heard a massive government presence on Wilshire Blvd near the CIA offices - anyone close to know what is going on?
Exactly what I was thinking when I checked the newswires due to relentless chopper noise overhead, which has continued unabated for over 2 hours.
The individual has a record (two misdemeanors) according to some reports.
Strangely, and worrisome to me, was a small fixed-wing aircraft circling over the area amidst all the choppers.
Airspace has gone quiet. Things have changed, not sure how though.
I’ve kept the live feed on in the background while I work. Can still hear the choppers, but they are definitely farther away than before.
Perhaps the media is no longer interested because the guy wasn’t a right-wing extremist bent on deposing Obama and reinstalling Bush as the world leader?
I read on twitter a bit ago that SWAT is responding so perhaps that’s what changed...
Yup, on the feed, there’s a SWAT team about 15 feet behind the car and two rescue trucks have moved in on the front.
They appear to be moving on the car now...

Sounds like the guy is named Joseph. I can hear the SWAT loudspeaker talking to him, trying to get him to either roll down the window or open the door. They’ve pushed the other cars out of the way, so it’s just the isolated VW.
CIA has nothing to do with it. The poster got it wrong and didn’t have the headline corrected.
Law enforcement on scene: Secret Service, FBI and the local SWAT team.

I am out of the area now. I was down on the ground before I left. A huge area was taped off and black LE vehicles everywhere.
Expensive operation.
I felt badly for the folks at the cemetery trying to have a nice, quiet funeral/burial service.

Robot broke the back window, giving SWAT a chance to throw tear gas in to get him out. There were four thrown in until they finally got him out 8 hours after it started.

Officials were not ready to name the suspect but neighbors and the man's mother told The Daily Breeze that the man is 56-year-old Joe Moshe of Westchester. One neighbor told reporters that Moshe "had issues." Another told The Daily Breeze that Moshe is usually "harmless" until "he goes off his meds."
Just a mental case so doesn't fit in right wing nut profile and media drops the story cold.
