Pirates probably hijacked a merchant ship which disappeared after sailing through the English Channel last month, its operator said on Wednesday.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
ooo-fo’s
This story makes me really nervous. A large ship with a timber shipment is hijacked but with no ransom demands. It was last seen heading west towards the Atlantic.
Maybe the hijackers knew there was something on the ship other than timber... Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
Doesn’t smell right. You don’t send out the Russian fleet for a “timber” ship. I have a feeling the “timber” was probably stuff they don’t want people to see.. It might be worth a looksee.
More like laminated and shaped plywood
It reminds me of some units of Purple Heart plywood I saw pitures of that were plywood on the outside and plastic wrapped packages on the inside.
Most likey cocaine inside the units. This could be something similar involving Russian mafia types. I am just speculating.
Timber isn’t worth that much based on the oversupply in the world market.
**GIANT PARANOIA ALERT**
My paranoid fear is that there was nothing on the ship that is of importance at all. My paranoid fear is that the hijackers purposefully targeted a low value ship knowing that it wouldn’t raise much of an alarm for a while after it loses contact.
The U.S. port system is one of the big open holes in our defenses and a ship that just drifts into New York harbor is something that most people would not pay attention to with all of the other shipping traffic.
That is my paranoid fear: that the hijacked ship is nearing our shores.
Don’t worry if you are paranoid you aren’t alone. A low value ship makes a good low-tech delivery vehicle for a Russian blackmarket nuke. looks like we need to call in Chuck Noris or at the very least Jack Bauer!
There are more stories coming out - in agreement with your point. Some commentators are saying that the ship had a mystery cargo, and that after picking up the timber it spent time in a Russian port.
This is a very dark story.
