Either indies have suddenly developed a taste for Nazi mobs of political terrorists or the Democrats message war on ObamaCare opponents is a rather epic fail.
Given the lefts monopoly on wisdom and virtue, I must reluctantly conclude its the former. When did independents start hating America?
In a survey of 1,000 adults taken Tuesday, 34% say the sometimes heated protests at sessions held by members of Congress have made them more sympathetic to the protesters views; 21% say they are less sympathetic.
Independents by 2-1, 35%-16%, say they are more sympathetic to the protesters now.
The findings are bad news for President Obama and Democratic congressional leaders, who have scrambled to respond to town halls marked by aggressive questions and noisy demonstrations by those opposed to plans to overhaul the health care system

I imagine it is because, for the first time, they are being exposed to the language in this witches brew of a bill. Put, that’s what Town hall meetings are for, aren’t they? So the local politicians can get the truth out? (satire)

Good news! Even within the indie’s there must be patriots.
Obama and the Leftist media decry supposed, fear-mongering charges of “Death Panels” as baseless, but are silent regarding explicit and indistinquishible HHS / Congressional jargon requiring or incentivizing physicians to “initiate guided consultations” regarding “advance care planning” or “end of life planning” (HR 3200 sec. 1233) in order to meet bureaucratic goals (http://www.ahrq.gov/research/endliferia/endria.htm) for “reducing resource use”and “positively influencing terminal care costs” through such “consultations.
Physicians are to be subjected to de-facto quotas via “quality reporting initiative” measured against yet to be defined standards, to be endorsed or adopted by “consensus based organizations”. These “Advance Care Planning Consultations” to include “an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice, and benefits for such services and supports that are available under this title. “
Sec. 141 - 142 of the House bill “Establishes the ‘Health Choices Administration’, an independent executive branch agency.” “The ‘Health Choices Commissioner’ will carry out out functions including: establishment of qualified plan standards, establishment and operation of the Health Insurance Exchange, administration of affordability credits, and additional functions as laid out within the bill. The Commissioner can collect data necessary to carry out his or her duties and to promote quality and value and address disparities in health care.”
Corollary provisions empower other government bureuacrats to adopt and implement a “national wellness strategy” to “improve the Nation’s health” through “community prevention and wellness activities (sec. 3121) coordinated by the “Task Force on Clinical Preventive Services” (sec. 3131) charged with among other things, “taking into account health disparities in developing, updating, publishing, and disseminating evidence-based recommendations on the use of such services”.
Additionally, a czar-like, “Director of the Center for Quality Improvement” is to be charged with “ prioritizing areas for the identification, development, evaluation, and implementation of best practices for quality improvement activities in the delivery of health care services” in accordance with the evolving political consensus, likely complied by ACORN, and reflected by long established and all too familiar “we are the government and we know what’s good for you so shut up and take it” standard.
I believe things are bubbling over finally. After years and years of government growth and reckless spending, America is finally getting sick of it! The health care plan protests are a symptom of the disease that is government overreaching its bounds.
I keep waiting for those testimonials of shiny happy smiling Brits and Canadians telling us how they just love government health care.
The honeymoon for Obama is not only over, he has been served with divorce papers.
I remember a speech by Ike in 1956 when he appealed to voters, he addressed his audience by saying “I understand there are more Independents here than Democrats.” Nothing has changed, there are many Independents out there and they are the ones who really decide the elections.
We’re around. But we’re “Right Wing Indies”.
Now lets be careful and not be too giddy, lol.
I’m highly confident that Obama’s socialist health care plan will not pass. There’s just too much opposition to it and the Democratic congressmen who aren’t to the left of Bill Ayers are very nervous about voting for it. What I think may happen is that a compromise bill will pass. It will not have a public option and it will be far short of what Obama and the other radical libs in Congress want. But Obama will sign it in order to say that he got something passed, and to save face.
Me thinks the socialists are rapidly expending their political capital.
Such a notion is absolutely idiotic.
Billy Tauzin, or whatever that lobbyist jerk's name is, ought to be fired for going along with Hussein's plan. He is ignorant, too, because Hussein will be a friendly crocodile...and eat Big Pharma last.
The AARP "leadership", too, is ripe for replacement. What kind of ASSES decide to betray the people they supposedly serve? I think they look upon it as a way to get their nose into the public trough, and nothing else.
Ridiculous.
I hope independents are being won over. Hell, I hope DEMOCRATS are being won over....not all Democrats are comfortable with this CRAP.
I posted this account on another thread that died, but I thought it was interesting and relevant enough to repost.
Im in NYC right now, and I was sitting in a coffee shop in a very liberal area and chatting with the 60ish lady at the next table, who looked very liberal herself and sure sounded that way in our conversation.
I went back to reading my paper after a bit, and then she read the headlines (NYers read other people’s papers - I can even read papers upside down!) and leaned over and said in a confidential voice, You know? Something that really scares me is that health care plan. Especially at my age...
You don't seem to know much about independents, a large number of independents are just too conservative to register as republicans, how often do you read here of conservatives that are switching to independent out of disgust because the GOP is too mushy for them. Why does JR make it clear that this is a conservative site, not a republican site.
I would guess that independents also make up at the least a sizable portion of the protesters.
