A public wake will be held for Eunice Kennedy Shriver from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville on Cape Cod, according to a person familiar with the arrangements.

A private funeral will follow on Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, according to the person, who requested anonymity because they had not been authorized by the Kennedy family to speak about the arrangements.

The funeral will be by invitation only and has been tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m., the person said.

Pretty good comment. Remember, this is the family whose head of household actually had the eldest sister Rosemary LOBOTOMIZED when she first started "dating", et al as a twenty-something.

In their favor when young Ted started getting into comparable trouble, John and Robert protected him from Old Joe by ushering him into the Army for a stint and then on to college in the Old Confederacy, a nation Old Joe regularly avoided.

Hence, Eunice Kennedy Shriver's efforts to pay penance for her father's sins ~ a hopeless task of course, but truly an old fashioned but highly principled effort and something to remember her for.

It is my understanding that Mrs. Shriver would not go along with the family political line on abortion and her role in the “Special Olympics” does her great honor as well. She is probably the only Kennedy who can be “buried as a Catholic” without causing questions to be raised about political influence on the Church.

My Grandma always told us kids “Pray for everyone, God will sort out the messy details.”

For that reason, my prayers out to Ms. Kennedy Shriver .

That’s true. Frankly I’m upset at being denied the opportunity to pray for this wonderful pro-life woman in public at a proper Mass. Private Masses in public Churches are not common.

I hadn’t given that “private Mass in a public church” thing much thought, but I suppose you’re right. I have had to go to more funerals than I care to recently myself, so attending one for someone I don’t even know wouldn’t cross my mind, either. Maybe you could send a Mass card to the family?

John and Robert did not help him into the army. He was caught cheating on a Harvard Spanish test and expelled from school. He was so afraid of his father that he signed up for the Army for 6 years. When the old man found out he went ballistic and had it changed to a 2 year enlistment. He finished Harvard when he got discharged early.

You’d better believe his brothers were in on that particular piece of advice. If Teddy were left to his own devices he’d fled to North Korea. Since he didn’t, reasonable people are forced to give the credit to JFK and RFK, who formerly worked for Joe McCarthy.
