ISLE OF PALMS Pauline Sherman's doctor said that at 96 years old, she would have to find something to die from because he couldn't find anything wrong with her.
So she decided to go parasailing.
"I was with my grandchildren, and we were watching people do it at the beach," said Sherman, who will turn 97 next month. "I said that looked like fun and I might like to try it."
That's when Regina Ford of Mount Pleasant, Sherman's granddaughter, put the wheels in motion for what turned out to be the ride of a lifetime Monday afternoon.

No need to worry. BO will ask her to kill herself, then the family can be rid of pesky grandma /s
Seriously, I wish this lady well. If I could get to that age & still be able to do things like that!!
If she keeps having fun like that, she'll never get sick!
My fiancee’s grandmother did the same thing a while ago. She loved it!
Wonder how she would feel about End of Life Counseling crammed down her throat.
How incredibly selfish of that old woman. She risks a broken bone or other injury which might burden the collective health care system. That totally ignores the huge carbon footprint of this little selfish outing. She has already overstayed her welcome. Can’t she see that her family doesn’t really love her. They are just waiting for her to vacate her house or apartment so her wealth can be re-deployed. She should be thinking about how she can give to her government instead of these selfish indulgences.
Just wait until the Great One cools the climate and we once again have some frozen tundras on which to abandon these old people and unwanted children. Hypothermia is really a quite humane way to terminate useless breathers. Natural storage of the organic matter for soylent green production once the process is perfected.
(Do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
I want to grow up to be just like her!
“Can’t she see that her family doesn’t really love her”
Nope, no tag necessary. It is pretty obvious that this family doesn’t see Gramms as a burden, and the 17 yo was probably thrilled to share the experience with her great-grandmother.
I think most families do not see the elderly and handicapped as a burden and are appalled that their government seems to hold that view. That is why there is such passion in the town meetings.
May this reaction to the callousness of government officials and their lack of reason and logic built into a governmental reform movement that sweeps over Washington like a tsunami.
