“But then, I wonder if Steele ever bothered to pick up a phone and tell them to do the right thing ?”

From what I understand a call would have little (or no) effect, but you’re right...it might have been worth the effort...I think we need a war time conigliere, though...that just was so hard to believe and it is so outrageous...

IF I were a betting man, I would say Owens is a lock. Unless Dede is removed or drops out. But don’t tell everybody.

If he wins, it will be by a plurality. Given the toxic climate, the GOP would be able to hold it if they put up a candidate not viscerally antithetical and offensive to the base. How can the national party, with a straight face, come up and help someone OPPOSED to the party agenda in DC ?

It’s just amazing, with a President whose approvals drop lower by the day, we still haven’t made a single gain since the November elections federally. Lost two Senate seats since and a House seat, and haven’t seriously contested other seats elsewhere. Steele will try to claim victory in NJ & VA for the Governorships, but that won’t have squat to do with him, and neither will change how many seats we’ve dropped in Congress. We’d already won some specials by this point in ‘93 after Bubba had been in 6 months.

Anybody thought of voting for the conservative candidate and not the GOP candidate?

i’m sure they will wish this one just would go away.
They will run attack ads on Owens. I will drop by Dede headquarters to see what kinda freaks would possibly work this race.

The leftists may be repulsed by Owens and show up in Dede headquarters. The Socialist Republicans movement of upstate NY. All the Univ VT students at Burlington will go over and work for her.

yes, read the information is the thread.

It shows that the NARAL/Gay forces are more versatile and creative than the conservatives are. Of course, the only “conservative” Dems that are allowed to run are the ones approved by DNC.

Burlington leftists work ? They’d have to put down the bongs, hashish pipes and step away from the drum circles... hell, if they stepped inside a building marked “Republican HQ”, they might spontaneously combust.

They’re not really Conservative, they just pretend that they are so the “idiot voters” will think they’re not voting moonbat when they vote Dem.

That's to bad I was hoping there were some real conservatives running. In my view we need Conservatives and not Republicans running everywhere.

Many average folks are not aware of this tactic used by the democrats in certain locations. If this is happening in your location start an information campaign or better yet, get a true blue conservative to run against these type of political opportunists in the primary. The hypocrisy should be exposed immediately.

By God’s grace this evil will be overturned.

The Conservative Republican is Hoffman, so there is a choice.

There was no primary here, these were people chosen by the local party chieftains. Literally only a handful of people decided the candidates.

Conservatives can’t win everywhere or even in most districts. Statewide election of conservatives is extremely rare. You can’t surrender all the country which does not elect conservatives and hope to have any political power. And the nation has never really been conservative in any case.

We have to figure out how to win in urban areas especially the big cities or the GOP will be minority for a long time.

But the overriding problem is the total hostility of the media to anything faintly resembling conservative or traditional ideas. People must fight their way through a minefield of misinformation, disinformation and out right lies to get to the truth. Too few have the will to fight.

When did stating the obvious become controversial?

Why don’t you give me the names of those members of the Senate elected by the People of a state whom you consider to be safely conservative by your standards? Or even the number? Is it over a handful?

The world is not safe for anyone, much less conservatives. A complete defeatism is purposeless, except for our opponents. As far as how optimistic I am, see my homepage.

Politics is the art of the possible. Optimism is fine and I have nothing against it but it should be noted that even the most optimistic optimist pounding his head against a stone wall is bound to lose his optimism.

Politically we must determine whose votes we want and how to get them. Traditionally, Americans avoid the extremes of the political spectrum so we must understand how to win within that history.

We must also take over the instruments of public influence: media, foundations, education, etc. It has been by this means that the Left has achieved near total control of the American mind.

I am not pessismistic at all but this fight is way beyond what most understand to be involved. Just as Sulla and Marius were not just in conflict personally but from far more significant causes arising over hundreds of years and not resolved is less than a century.

We are just in the beginning of America’s Age of Conflict and it is yet to be seen if the nation can reform itself and begin another era of growth and achievement.
