It then mentions a California startup called "Attributor" which has a means for newspapers to share ad revenue from sites that copy their articles. (Of course, since FR is ad-free, that wouldn't be an impact on this site in particular)
If this updated law is passed, it would have a significant impact on forums that depend upon news content for much of their activity (particularly a place like this, but also other ones, such as Lucianne Goldberg's site)

The Techdirt blog posts stories and commentary about the internet and its impact on copyright and vice versa. Some of what’s going on is insane, and it specifically mentions the AP’s attempts to use DRM on their stories.
The time is not that far off when they will be trolling here for hits, posting their own articles here and begging freepers to follow their links.

How true. We have to be helping those we link to. I am tired of the dancing monkeys and ads that move to cover up what you are reading, but that is the fair thing to do.
