No angry mobs, but tough questions at Maryland town hall (PG county against it??)
CNN ^ | 8/7/2009 | Peter Hamby

There were no angry mobs or Nazi SS symbols at a health care town hall in Maryland’s heavily Democratic 4th Congressional district on Thursday night, but the member of Congress in the spotlight did face some tough questioning from small but vocal crew of administration critics in the audience.

(snip)

Mark King of Germantown — who warned that the President is implementing socialist policies — compared himself and other administration critics to those who rallied against King George during the American Revolution.

“If we just reflect a little bit, this is how the country got started — people came to town hall meetings and they expressed their opinions,” King said.

Another man, John Peele of Prince George’s County, made a different historical comparison, likening the Democrats to Nazis and suggesting that Obama is like Hitler because he began his term in office as a well-liked national figure before consolidating power. Peele also questioned Obama’s citizenship.

“It’s national socialism,” Peele said of the administration’s economic plans. “I don’t want national socialism. I want freedom. You don’t want to sign your life over to something that they have total control of.”

All of the health care reform critics at the town hall were residents of the 4th Congressional District and said they had come on their own volition as concerned citizens.

None of them said they had been directed to the town hall by interest groups opposed to health care reform – an allegation levied by top Democrats throughout the week.

However, one Democrat from a neighboring Congressional district, Eunita Winkey, said she had decided to attend the forum after receiving an e-mail from Jason Waskey, the Maryland state director for Barack Obama’s political organization, Organizing for America.

I will be the first to bow and apologize if I’ve misunderstood you. But I’ve noted you on other threads and you come across as being a lib.

I assume you’re familiar with PG county but your assertion that 25% of the county voted republican is way out there. I’m thinking PG county is the most democratic/liberal county in America.

Too bad as it’s a real pretty area but it’s not republican or conservative in any fashion except for a few oddballs.

I wasn’t trying to make you feel guilty about anything.

I just don’t buy that those people at the Town Halls were all republicans and that’s what you asserted. Plenty, and I mean plenty of Democrats are against this health care mess.

But I apologize if you’re not a lib because some times, it’s rare but it happens, I’m wrong.

I still think you’re wrong about PG county demographics. That whole place is a wasp nest of liberals.

Pretty area too.

No problem. I am just hot about this health care stuff. It just irritates me....I apologize too. I need to get off the computer for a day or two. I get like this every now and again. I thought I was going to have a heart attack during the whole amnesty mess. Thanks for the readjustment. I wish you well....I will be back in a few days...:) Need to give the heart a rest.

I guess someone has to say it. Prince Georges County is 60% black, add white Democrats who live there to that and you have at least 75% perhaps 85% Democrats.

BIDEN..tie breaker??? With the Rinos..needs to be 58 Repub vs 42 Dem. I do not think the American people should ever allow either party to have a TOTAL majority.

To much mischief afoot.

I like when the senate is split 50/50 anyway.

I'd like it 70/30 Republican so we can stomp the maggots in the ground.

And you are an arrogant smartass. Why don't you tell us what makes you so superior to the rest of us here? We need good laugh.

I am a conservative who is realistic.

Oh, we believe you. Honest. Really we do.

(and if you believe that I have a couple of slightly used pyramids over in Egypt that I'll let you have fore a very reasonable price)

You are passing along Sen. Reid’s talking points. “It’s just the fringe.”

The idea is to organize DEMS against this. The rank & file DEMS. They are part of the group who can stop it. It 5 to 10% of the DEMS get up in arms over “Ending Medicare as we know it”, it doesn’t pass.

Why are people acting like the whole county is against this.

Could it be because recent polls show that 52% of likely voters don't want this BS crammed down their throats? Do you think that has anything to do with them thinking the whole country is against it?

BTW, this is the second thread I've seen you on in just about 30 minutes in which you were acting rather liberal like, to say the least.

Your idiotic statement about "only conservatives are going to the meetings" tells me you are a liar or misinformed. The people against government run health care are a mixed bag of Democrats(they are not all hard left loonies), conservatives and independents.
