It was a weak joke, since Holder had knowledge of/ was involved in Clinton era renditions; there will be plenty of push-back from Republicans regarding a “narrow focus” on Gitmo vs. including what Holder knew and when did he know it on rendition.
Warn the CIA types that they get “sincere” with Islamic terrorists at their peril.
Dissuade anyone from further investigation of any old (or not so old) Obama - Islam connections.
Deflect attention away from Obama’s multiple failures.

Yes, I believe you are right. But, this is a distraction with potentially deadly consequences. The very people that have been central in our ability (and success) in preventing another spectacular attack are now targets of a criminal investigation.
Obama is playing politics with the the safety of Americans, both at home and abroad - not to mention the safety of our American fighting men and women. I hope the American public comes to their senses before it's too late.

Rendition is when our gutless 'leaders' want to 'enhance' their interrogation methods on someone and don't have the stones to take responsibility for it. So, they make a deal with some other country to do it for them. The outcome is the same, but the politicians get to cover their butts.
JMHO, but if you want to fight a war, you should fight to win and if you want to torture someone, you should be man enough to take responsibility for it. Opinions may vary.
