There is a smarter way than mashing the gas pedal with no regard for the citizens, whom one is paid by, to protect and serve.

How does chasing criminals at high speeds through streets crowded with innocent motorists and bystanders either "serve" or "protect" them? The guy(s) being chased showed only as little concern or regard for innocent lives as did the cops involved in the chase.

The difference is, the cops are supposed to care. They are paid by those innocents to care. To behave without due regard for that fact is an abject abrogation of their sworn duty.

What is the worse outcome, in your inobvious wisdom: a traffic violator gets away scot free, or innocent people are killed making sure they don't get away?

Get real, meatface.

Get real, meatface.

My eldest son is a police Lt. He has done everything from traffic thru knocking down doors for drugs. I disagree with him about many things. But," you can take it to the bank" that cops care.

Your "bleeding heart" is ill-placed. Few people are chased for traffic violations, alone. They are chased because they decided to FLEE!

I do not want the bad guys to win! I do not wish to see innocent people killed or maimed, but the alternative is "chaos". The people operating "without due regard" are the ones BEING CHASED!

Go hit your bong again. It's time to "wake and bake"! My face is just fine!!!

I agree 100%, except for the insult.

You want a “worst outcome”???

OK, The guy flees a minor traffic ticket (which is right there bringing the stop up to felony territory) because he’s split with the wife/SO/GF, is pissed, and is hauling all of the kids off to kill them.

By no means am I a fan of the state or flashing lights revenuers, but if you tromp the pedal down in a traffic stop, you’re sweating something WAY worse than a $250 ticket and it’s an INSTANT SIGNAL to the cops that you are too...

Realistically, the guy was just drunk, or had a bag of meth, or some other dumb crap like that, but once you demonstrate a willingness to flee the police you automatically force them to assume the worst.
