Washington state officials are ready to verify signatures for a proposed referendum on Washington state's newly expanded domestic partnership law.

Secretary of State Sam Reed said Thursday that supporters of Referendum 71 turned in 137,689 signatures, about 14 percent more than the minimum needed to win a place on the November ballot. The average historic error rate is 18 percent.

At least 120,577 valid voter signatures are needed to get on the ballot. Election workers will begin verifying signatures Friday.

Will pass in a landslide. All Democrat initiates seem to pass that way ever since Grigoire “won” her election - using the same campaign manager that “won” the election for Frankin (Clown - Minnesota).

WA State began its slide into irreversible extreme socialism back in the mid-70s.

“Will pass in a landslide.”

I hope it does. The referendum is to repeal the legislatures’ domestic benefits law. I made a point of signing the petition after the gay marriage terrorists promised to find and and have a ‘talk’ with everyone who signed the petition to put the referendum on the ballot.

The FDRQ’s are all crowing about the high rate of signature disqualification. I’m not sure of the truth of this, but the petition campaign sure didn’t gather a sufficiently large surplus over the required number as a buffer to the inevitable attack from the left, like Maine did.

I don't know about Washington state in particular but %18 percent is hardly outrageous. You'd be surprised at how many people that sign petitions either sign multiple times when they shouldn't, or they aren't registered voters, or they are registered voters but haven't voted in recent elections etc. etc. Depends on the laws and qualification in each states. They should have gotten a larger buffer. Keep in mind that 18% is average so some rejection rates are considerably higher.
