Have you ever been to the Equifax site? They give you one free and you sign up for a monthly charge of $12.95 for monthly reports.

I did go there a couple yrs ago for a report and it was free and maybe I did have to opt out of a subscription service, I really can't remember. If that's the case then I stand corrected and they are scammers too.

Fortunately, I haven't had to leverage my life at the behest of credit companies and have rarely had to carry a balance. Personally, the credit companies commit usury to my mind and I think they all suck - especially for stupid people who don't "get" it and sink into a debt hole the size of Texas.

Of course, one could argue that's what they deserve for A) being stupid and B) thinking the world just "gives" them free money. Y'know, like the "free" healthcare they all fantasize about.

There is a federal law requireing one free report a year. They all jump on that bandwagon. Equifax actually directs you to another site to process your free report!
