“About a month ago, an organization (don’t make any assumptions) approached me and asked that I relocate to their location and be their counterterrorism and security advisor. This organization has people and assets in a country that is infested with terrorists in a huge region of the planet that is infested with terrorists. They need me to keep their people alive and their assets intact, and that is what I intend to do. If things collapse in this country and region, we here in America will absolutely, beyond any doubt, be targeted far more often. I can’t allow that to happen, so I resigned from Clear Channel (my bosses were a bit surprised and none too pleased), accepted the new position and do the seabag drag to my new gig this Saturday.

Gang, if what I will do in my new position will help keep Americans alive back home and abroad, how can I say no when it is my duty to say yes?

So, adios gang. I will think of you often, as I hope you do me.

Semper Fidelis,

Gunny, out

Obama's czars.

It's not the czars, other administrations have had czars.

It's Obama's combination of czar and fetters that worry me.

How come so few on this thread ever bother discussing the things that the Doc talks about? Everytime I try to bring up something nobody else follows suit.

Probably because.........

I can't believe how he just dropped off the face of the earth like that. He was one hell of a black conservative talk show host. There aren't that many left, now that Larry Elder left too.

Retired, Mr. Hamblin is. June 30,2009 article http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/06/ken_hamblin_remembers_alan_ber.php "But earlier this decade, around the time the syndication arrangement fell through, he realized that he'd tired of his combative persona. "I didn't want to sit on Fox News and try to convince people that America was a great country," he says. "And I didn't want to go on CNN and argue with people who didn't want to leave Harlem or Watts because of their own xenophobia. I reached a burnout point." "So he retired, and thanks in part to some wise investments (including a couple of Quiznos restaurants he owned and sold), he's pretty well fixed. He and his wife, who live in Frisco with their three dogs, spend much of their time traveling; they've got a trip to Paris and Rome scheduled for September. But he's hardly forgotten the people he met on the way from there to here -- Alan Berg among them. "He's still with me," he says. "He's always there."

I was listening to Savage and remembered your home-page that you mentioned some weeks ago. We're going right down that historical rabbit hole.

To: dynachrome; Lucius Cornelius Sulla

I fear we are in the middle of a Marian-like rule. Bush being Marius lite, and Obama being the heavy handed one.

I fear only a revolt headed by some leader to be named later would bring this socialist experiment to an end. And the damage done is not going to be good. The thieves whose interests have been protected by the last two treasury secy and Bernacke will have their ill-gotten gains safely tucked away. US will suffer no matter what. That will set it all up for our Cæsar, whomever that is, to make his move.

Cheery, huh? I may make the Doc look optimistic by comparison. And if you think I’m bad, you oughta hear from LCS!

No, not the fall of the empire, the fall of the republic, and the entry point for the tyrant — whatever form of emperor would be resulting.

I always hoped the doc would read about that story, but it’s awfully late in the day (so to speak) to do much about it anymore.

Down the rabbit hole indeed.

May God grant us the courage to face and the strength to repel the horrors that are to come.

Although the parallels to ancient Rome are striking, there are other historical models of the rise of fascism that are also eerily similar. The replacement of the Wiemar Republic by upstart violent racists in a time of national economic hardship through sloganeering and intimidation is the freshest example in most minds. But points taken.

Yup. The republic was usurped by the empire, which is the portion of Roman history most entrenched in popular culture with its long dictatorial dynasties, which make for good Hollywood scripts.
