I attended the John Dingell Town Hall on Health Care this evening in Romulus Michigan. The even was not promoted beforehand, yet more than 600 people showed up. The meeting was held in a room that only held 150 people. The first few rows were mostly Dingell Supporters, who, were NOT outside waiting with the rest of us. See my blog for more info.
Here is one of the videos:
Great video, Portnoy. I was at the same meeting. I was sitting quite near where you must have been standing or sitting. I think Dingell and the jerk from the AARP got the message loud and clear. Not that it will make any difference.
I wrote to those donkeys at AARP. I actually got a response back from them telling me how we all have to stick together on Obama Care. I wrote them a scathing email back telling them basically how they suck because Obama Care will hurt the elderly more than anyone.
Guess I’m on the flag@whitehouse.gov list now...GOOD !
You never know. Corzine is tanking and maybe a flicker of electricity is in the brains of some Dem voters in Jersey.
Many of the idiots migrate to SC, NC and FL because liberalism has and is destroying Jersey yet they are too stupid to put 2 + 2 together. Gee high taxes bad? Uhhh??
Unreal.
I tell you it was a lot of fun. This was not a mob that was astroturfed by insurance companies. These were common, everyday citizens who pay their taxes, take care of their families and hold themselves to be responsible for themselves.
There was a kid in line who spouted all the “anti-Rush, Drudge Report” name calling that you see over on DU.
He didn’t stand a chance...lol. He quietly put down his sign and went to the sidelines and was seen only talking on his phone the rest of the evening...
"Ahhhh, but what about Dingle-Norwood?"
These congress-critters had better thankful that NO ONE brings hot tar & feathers! Because IMHO they deserve it!
What was their response to so many turning out?
Dingle=Dingell
Telling is one thing, doing is another.
Yoda says do.
Irregardless of the fact that they “packed” the crowd, Dingell knows that his pre-arranged audience was vastly outnumbered by opponents of Obamacare. He had to come and go the same way as everyone else and he saw the cars parked along the road. He knows that at a routine town hall, he gets a few dozen people and that this was overflowing.
Despite all their tactics, the message is not lost on them.
He was probably talking to his skanky friends..."Hey, I thought you guys said you were going to show up at this thing! I thought you said there were going to be a lot more ACORN people here! I feel like a jerk!"
At least Dingell showed up. My congressman (Mark Schauer - D) has turned turtle, cancelled his live town halls and is going to a phone-in style.
The most important thing about making a massive, angry showing at these townhall meetings is that the politician gets the message that we are paying attention and we vote.
It sounds like some of these politicians are taking their lives in teir hands promoting this baloney. I’m thinking you’ve got CW2 if this passes.
Amazing they don't comprehend their actions bring about reactions! They think they are attacking conservatives, but they are wrong - they are now attacking the very people who voted them into office.
I just saw this on the news.
A couple of things:
1.) The Democrats trying to push this off as ‘orchestrated by the insurance companies’ defies belief. This is pure grassroots. I’m reminded of Groucho Marx— ‘Who ya gonnaa believe, me, or your lying eyes?’. The absolute fury at Dingell was not made up.
2.) As visceral as was the fury at Dingell, his response was unequivocal. He said that these ‘disruptors’ were put up to it, and he said that in the most arrogant and condescending manner. He said that he’s been in Congress 50 or more years, and he’s made it his business to do what he thinks is right for his constituents, their voices be damned.
The anger on display looks like something out of a Hollywood movie— not that it’s fake, but that it’s surreal. Quite honestly, it’s a bit frightening. People are really, really pissed off about this. And I think the Democrats are completely and utterly mid-judging it.
It’s been said that the only thing holding the social contract together insofar as politics are concerned is the peoples’ belief that they are represented by their leaders. I dare say that that contract appears to be very near the breaking point.
I am not one to say this lightly, but if Dingell dismisses this as some sort of put-up job, I would not be surprised if some kook does something rash, if only to prove that this is *for real*.
It’s encouraging to hear about your uncle!
Mark Schauer (D)umbass, is a coward.
In MI it was probably UAW, MEA and Teamsters. Those are the unions with the political power. Of course I can’t see MEA roughing up concerned citizens. Maybe trying to molest them but otherwise a pretty timid bunch.
