RUSH: Greetings to you, music lovers, thrill-seekers and conversationalists all across the fruited plain. Welcome to the leader. I am the Mobfather Rush Limbaugh here at the Excellence in Broadcasting Network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
I am happy. I am honored. I am proud, ladies and gentlemen, to be considered the Mobfather here leading the unruly mobs protesting at all these town hall meetings. I think it might be helpful to keep a list of all the things we are according to the president of the United States and his gang, the State-Controlled Media and all of his other cronies. To start with, we are always right-wing extremists. Now we are unruly members of a mob, and I am the Mobfather. We are people now who dress too nicely, even though it's Obama and his wife who are getting some Vanity Fair award for fashion, right? We are idiot shills for big insurance. We are people who are trying to destroy Obama. We are people who cannot change. We are people who are unwilling to seize the moment. We are people who do not like change. We are people who want the status quo.
Now, I'm not an economist, folks, but something here doesn't make sense. The State-Controlled Associated Press, and I think this is a headline they use every month now: They just cut and paste into whatever the figures actually are. "'New Jobless Claims Drop More Than Expected' -- The number of newly laid-off workers seeking unemployment benefits fell last week, the government said Thursday, a sign that the job market is making gradual improvement." Oh, really? The number is 550,000 instead of the expected 588,000 people that lost their jobs. Over half a million people lost their jobs and we get "New Jobless Claims Drop More Than Expected." I think they actually went up because at the end of the story: "The number of people continuing to claim benefits rose, however, by 69,000 to 6.3 million, after having dropped for three straight weeks."
Now, if more people are claiming jobless benefits, doesn't that mean that jobless claims rose? And if they went up by 69,000, the projected number was 588,000 the seasonally adjusted number is 550,000. If you add 69,000 to 550,000 we're up over 600,000 people that are looking for or are on unemployment. So if you ask me, the numbers actually rose. Now, I'm told that tomorrow the unemployment figure will be 9.6%. I don't know who's cooking it. Well, who do you think would be cooking the books? But I'll tell you what. I think these people are desperate. I think Obama and his gang are desperate. They are lashing out. They are unraveling before our very eyes. Here is Nancy Pelosi from yesterday in San Francisco.
PELOSI: I think they are Astroturf -- you be the judge -- of carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town hall meeting on health care.
RUSH: Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House. She is very powerful, one of the most powerful people in the country. This is what I mean by unraveling. She's running around now claiming that we're Nazis, that not only are we an unruly mob but that people are showing up wearing swastikas when, in fact, I have a story here from the Washington Post, Howard Kurtz, July 28, 1997: "Two senators call a news conference to present an average, hardworking American who -- to their embarrassment -- turns out to have a Nazi swastika tattooed on his arm. Is that news? Several major media organizations didn't think so. The West Virginia truck driver was trotted out by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) as someone who would be helped by the Clinton tax plan. Rockefeller, clearly unaware of the tattoo, introduced the man as 'a very close and personal friend.'"
So these guys back in 1997 shilling for Clinton's tax plan, bring out a guy, close personal friend of J. Rockefeller, actually has a swastika tattooed on his arm. The news media didn't think any big deal about it because this all happened when he was a teenager, it's no big deal. The speaker of the House accusing people of showing up at these town hall meetings of wearing swastikas, that is not insignificant, folks. This woman is deranged. They are unraveling, but that is not insignificant. You have the Democrat Speaker of the House saying that people, citizens who are concerned about health care are now wearing swastikas. She's basically saying that we are Nazis. She is saying that the people who oppose this are Nazis, and I'm going to tell you what. I'm going to run down the list here later on in the program, but this party, the Democrat Party and where it's taken this country, the radical left leadership of this party bears much more resemblance to Nazi policies than anything we on the right believe in at all, and I'll go through that list in just a second.
However, if you go to RushLimbaugh.com right now in the orange banner at the top of the website, you will see a headline: "Was Pelosi So Wrong About Swastikas?" Steve Gilbert at Sweetness & Light heard my reaction to the Obama health care logo the other day. I mentioned something about it reminded me of Germany in 1942, the shape of the logo, the people. I said, "I haven't seen this in many, many years." And if you go and take a look at this, you will find that the Obama health care logo is damn close to a Nazi swastika logo. I'm going to show you people watching on the Dittocam this, and there you are. The middle frame is the Obama health care logo. At the bottom is an official Nazi logo, eagle and everything, spread wings, or bird with spread wings. Ms. Pelosi has some major apologizing to do. I know that numerous repeated Botox injections can cause blurry vision, but I don't think Ms. Pelosi can use that as an excuse. They are really unraveling. They are really falling apart. Listen to her again. This is at San Francisco General Hospital. Do you think there is a legitimate grassroots opposition going on here?
PELOSI: I think they are Astroturf -- you be the judge -- of carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town hall meeting on health care.
RUSH: Mary Katharine Ham blogging at the Weekly Standard has put together a brilliant piece of work here dismantling the entire piece of evidence, the single piece of evidence that is being used by the State-Controlled Media, the smoking gun mob memo. It's being used by the Democrats and the State-Controlled Media as proof of organized mob activity is from a guy in Connecticut with 23 Facebook friends and five Twitter followers.

RUSH: By the way, we have shut down the Sweetness & Light website which always happens, Sweetness-Light.com where the similarity between Obama's health care logo and the Nazi logo is just overwhelming. People are trying to get in and see this. You know, these Democrats think they live and operate in a vacuum. They run around and say, "Oh, yeah, people are showing up with swastikas," and that's going to be the end of the story. They create a whole new story and we find out that it's a Democrat meeting in '97 that they bring up a good friend of Jay Rockefeller's who's got a Nazi swastika tattooed on his arm. They accuse us of being Nazis and Obama's got a health care logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook. Now what are the similarities between the Democrat Party of today and the Nazi party in Germany? Well, the Nazis were against big business. They hated big business and, of course, we all know that they were opposed to Jewish capitalism. They were insanely, irrationally against pollution. They were for two years mandatory voluntary service to Germany. They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working one of which was the Autobahn.
They were against cruelty and vivisection of animals but in the radical sense of devaluing human life, they banned smoking. They were totally against that. They were for abortion and euthanasia of the undesirables as we all know and they were for cradle-to-grave nationalized health care. I have always bristled when I hear people claim that conservatism gets close to Naziism. It is liberalism that's the closest you can get to Naziism and socialism. It's all bundled up under the socialist banner. There are far more similarities between Nancy Pelosi and Adolf Hitler than between these people showing up at town halls to protest a Hitler-like policy that's being heralded by a Hitler-like logo. Koko, do me a favor. Pardon me, folks. Private message here to my webmaster. Koko, get the e-mail that I sent you today with the two logos. Just put the graphic of the two logos on our website right now because Sweetness & Light is being bombarded. Just put up the Obama logo and then the Nazi logo side by side there. Just grab those two, put them up there because our servers can handle them. Okay, Koko says he's got it and he's on the case.
Barack Obama is losing the trust of the American people. Another similarity, Obama is asking citizens to rat each other out like Hitler did. Obama's the one that's got the snitch website right out of the White House, flag@whitehouse.gov, asking citizens to report people who are saying weird, odd things. You know, the White House responds, "No, no, no, we're not taking names here. We're not taking names. We're just taking people who are putting up faulty arguments and refuting them." Well, that's not the intention.
Ted Kennedy's dad, by the way, Joe Kennedy, sympathetic to Hitler, sympathetic to the Nazis. That's why FDR pulled him from his post as ambassador to Britain. You want to start talking, Ms. Pelosi, about ties to the Nazis? Let's focus on your party and some of the greatest heroes in your party that you hold up. And let's look at your policies, Ms. Pelosi. Your policies come dangerously close to some of those policies that Hitler forced on the German people. This is outrageous stuff for her to be running around saying these are unruly mobs with swastikas. Obama sends out the memo ginning up his ACORN mobs to try to fight this, taking names on a White House website of people who are telling the truth about health care is what this is about. He wants his stupid minions to snitch on people who are telling the truth about it.
Barack Obama had earned the trust of a majority of Americans. Right or wrong, he was trusted. Those who looked at Obama with clear eyes, however, always knew he was something other than what Obama said he was in speeches and what the State-Controlled Media reported. We knew he wasn't post-partisan. Barack Obama was the Senate's most liberal member. His alliances and associations were exclusively with hard, left radicals. We knew he wasn't post-racial. No one sits in a racially divisive and bigoted church for 20 years without agreement with the message. But people wanted to believe. They hoped love at first sight was the real thing. The American people trusted Barack Obama, but that was then. After Obama's election he has begun to govern, and since he has begun to govern, it isn't just his poll numbers that have fallen. The trust the American people placed in Obama has eroded, and this is key, because if there is no trust with an individual, that person cannot lead. Trust me on this. Obama is losing America's trust.
Obama said he cared about jobs. Well, we've lost almost three million since he took office. Even though he rammed a $1 trillion porkulus bill through and hundreds of thousands of jobs are still being lost every month. Despite his media's efforts to tell us the news is good, it isn't. He orchestrated a hostile takeover of General Motors and Chrysler to give them essentially to union executives. Obama Motors is something a majority of Americans would never have voted for. Obama is leading the charge to pass a cap-and-tax scheme, an energy tax just when Americans are struggling to get by. He's pressing to take over health care when Americans don't want that, either. He has demonized doctors, insurance companies, automobile executives, bankers, me, talk radio and now the president of the United States has descended to an unbelievable point. He is demonizing American citizens, average, ordinary, everyday people who do not have the jobs he assured them he cared about and was going to provide, Americans exercising the right to free assembly, the right to free speech. The president of the United States is demonizing them now.
These town hall meetings reveal a deep distrust of Barack Obama and his policies and everyone who supports them. The town hall meetings, ladies and gentlemen, are a manifestation of America's lack of trust in the Democrat Party and its leaders. And now this man who is losing our trust has started an enemies list -- essentially, a snitch list. Americans have figured out that Obama doesn't care if votes are taken on bills that haven't been written. He has broken most every promise he has made and everybody knows that his "No New Tax" pledge on the middle class tax is next. In fact, that's already been broken. All of these actions and more have amounted to a betrayal of trust. Barack Obama's not who he said he was. Just for a moment forget falling polls, forget rising unemployment.
The problem Obama faces is destroying his presidency as he's losing the trust of the American people. He can no longer say "Trust me," and this distrust Americans feel is growing stronger and deeper every day that passes. It's becoming clear as well that Barack Obama listens to nobody. It's his hard-left agenda and whatever it takes to ram it through. He doesn't care what Americans think. He doesn't care about their ideas. He doesn't care about their values. This is all about him. This is all about Barack Obama's personal agenda and objectives. It's about Barack Obama erecting monuments to himself. He has no intention of governing. He intends to rule. And that's why legislation is voted on that no one's read. That's why he rams through bills without hearings, without discussion and without knowing any details. He intends to rule, and Americans are figuring it out. They no longer trust Barack Obama.

RUSH: By the way, to illustrate what a bunch of radical, environmentalist wacko insaniacs the Nazis were, I just sent Koko Web links we're going to put on RushLimbaugh.com where you'll be able to see it. It's too lengthy to read. But they were environmentalist wackos out the wazoo. Isn't it fascinating? No one can have an honest disagreement with the statists, nobody can have an honest disagreement with Barack Obama or Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi. If you disagree, you are a Nazi, you're a racist, you're Hitler or something similar.

RUSH: Ms. Pelosi, you asked for this. Here you go. Adolf Hitler, like Barack Obama, also ruled by dictate. His cabinet only met once, one day. That was it. Hitler said he didn't need to meet with his cabinet. He represented the will of the people. He was called The Messiah. He said the people spoke through him. Do you know what the very first law that Hitler ordained was? The very first law was a law declaring how to cook lobsters. They were to be boiled. That was deemed to be the least painful. The law was sent around to all the restaurants. Now, does this sound like something any conservative president has ever done or does it sound like the things that liberals are doing all over this country? The links to show you just how off-the-wall radical environmentalist the Nazis were are posted now at the top of RushLimbaugh.com. Okay, Ms. Pelosi. You say you see swastikas? Well, when it comes to it, you look much more like one than any of us ever will.

RUSH: Craig in Richfield, Connecticut. Hello, sir. It's great to have you with us on the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Rush, good afternoon. A charter listener here and a great admirer of your work for many years.
RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much.
CALLER: I was listening to your analysis earlier comparing the Democrat Party and what they're doing to what the Nazis were doing, particularly when they came to power in 1933, 1934. I would disagree with one part of your analysis and that is the Nazis hating big business. Uh, quite the contrary. I thought the Nazis actually were allied and loved big business. In fact, a lot of the deals they made with companies like Farben and Bosch and Mercedes were basically designed to implement top-down control of the economy and create such things as, say, a People's Radio, a People's Car, things of this nature.
RUSH: Right, right. Okay, they hated private-sector capitalism. They hated Jewish capitalism. They wanted... You need businesses. They just wanted to run them. Do you remember why the Volkswagen came to be?
CALLER: The Volkswagen came to be basically because they wanted a car that could be afforded by the German people. One of the reasons they needed it was to make sure everybody had a mode of transportation and also to stimulate economic activity.
RUSH: No, no. Well, that may be partially right, but the idea was, as you say, to create a cheap car. But it was also a car that was designed not to pollute, to not use much gasoline. It was right out of the playbook of the environmentalist wackos here today, and the fact is that very few Germans ever ended up with one because they couldn't afford it. They used the lay-away plan to buy the things, and they couldn't.
CALLER: Oh, you are entirely correct. Do you know the most successful venture of the German government was the People's Radio because basically Hitler and the Nazis wanted to ensure that every house had a radio so that they could get their diatribes, their points across and their propaganda across. That was very successful, but you are correct: the Volkswagen initially was a flop.
RUSH: Yeah, big-time flop in Germany. And you're right about his association with Mercedes.
CALLER: Absolutely.
RUSH: He associated with Mercedes and in the process undercut Maybach. Maybach preceded the Mercedes. Now Mercedes has brought Maybach back. But Hitler even put in an order for Mercedes he never got.
CALLER: (chuckles) Well, they did make quite a few cars for him. There was one in particular in Las Vegas at one of the big casinos. I forget which casino but they have a lot of the vintage cars, but they actually have a vintage Mercedes that Hitler drove and one of the things he used to do was he would take his gun and he would shoot two holes in the rear window to ensure that the windows were indeed bulletproof. The windows I think were about maybe an inch, inch and a half, about an inch or so thick. But he would ensure that nobody had sabotaged the car and made it so that he could be harmed while in the car. Very interesting. But yeah, I mean to say your point, listen, I agree with you right on. The Democrats basically are in alliance. The other great example would be Goldman Sachs. I mean, Goldman Sachs... If you want to know in my opinion the biggest proponent of the cap and tax bill is Goldman Sachs. They stand to profit from every trade, every carbon offset trade that is made from that bill.
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: So, people think, people think these guys are Republicans. These are not only Democrats, these guys are socialists basically.
RUSH: Well, you know, it is a good point about this, too, in addition. Because you are exactly right about that. I'm not trying to steal your thunder, but some weeks ago in discussing cap and trade, I pointed out the word "trade," and I'll tell you who I must credit for this, who came up with it. I was watching the Fox All-Stars and Nina Easton came up with this thought, this idea. Cap and trade. Trade what? We're going to trade carbon credits, and there's going to be money going back and forth with every trade, and Goldman Sachs/Wall Street is going to profit through the roof. The same guys that Obama wants the American people to think he's demonizing and doesn't like and is punishing and is getting even with, he's throwing them a huge bone. He is not doing anything for the people who elected him. He's not doing anything for the people he promised to create jobs and prosperity. He's giving it all to the trial lawyers. He's giving it all to the private sector union bosses and his buds on Wall Street.
END TRANSCRIPT
Well, he closed club Gitmo, but it's open. He got us out of Iraq, but we're still there. He stimulated the economy and nearly 600,000 more people lost their jobs today. That puts us over, very close to three million people who have lost their jobs. Since he took office, 34 million Americans are on food stamps, but he has stimulated the economy. He says he's fiscally responsible. He's fading in the polls because he keeps saying things and more and more people are catching on that it's just words. It doesn't mean anything. He has no hard evidence. There is no hard evidence to back up anything President Obama has promised or has said is happening at the moment.

Quinnipiac University: Voters Disapprove Of Obama's Handling Of Health Care |
CALLER: Hey, how are you doing? Listen, of all the scary things in this health care bill, Rush, the scariest thing is this: The government, if this passes, will be able to go into your bank account or anybody's bank account -- I just read this last night -- anybody's bank account, take the money out to fund this monstrosity. Did you know that?
RUSH: Yes. I have reported on it. Direct deposit access to every individual's bank account.
CALLER: If that happens, Rush, I'm leaving the country. That is the most egregious --
RUSH: Good luck getting out. Good luck getting out. They will shut the airports.
CALLER: That is the most egregious thing in this entire bill for me is to go into my account and take out my money.
RUSH: Well, theoretically it's to make sure you pay for whatever treatment they decide you deserve.
CALLER: I don't care. Why don't you come into my house? Why doesn't the government come into my house and take my jewelry and pay with that. It's the same thing.
RUSH: Shhh, shhh-shhh, shhh-shhh.
CALLER: Sorry.
RUSH: Bad enough as it is. Don't give them any more ideas.
CALLER: (laughing).
RUSH: He's right, folks, he's right. That is in the House bill. You think that's the worst thing in it. I'm not arguing with you, but there are things that are a greater abomination than that. I mean, this bill determines, the government's going to determine who lives and dies. They are going to fund abortions and they are going to be for euthanasia on the back end. Anyway, Scott, I appreciate the phone call.

So Gibbs was asked about this at the White House briefing. A reporter said, "Do you know how many e-mails have been sent to the flag@whitehouse.gov address and secondly isn't the White House required to save all correspondence it receives? So will it be informing --" before I finish this, do you people remember when the Pentagon was preparing this massive database of worldwide terrorists and the left had a cow? The civil libertarians went absolutely nuts. Now the White House has a snitch website and where are the civil libertarians? Obama has his own domestic spying program run out of the White House. Where are the civil libertarians? I mean, this is amazing. Anyway, the question to Gibbs: "Are you going to be informing individuals whose e-mails have been forwarded they might want to have a chance to correct the historical record about the alleged fishiness of their e-mails?"
GIBBS: I for the life of me didn't understand your question. Obviously the National Archives documents correspondence with the White House.
REPORTER: So the people whose e-mails have been forwarded, they won't be informed that their emails have been forwarded to the government?
GIBBS: Maybe I'm missing something. I'm sure you're hatching some nefarious plot but for the life of me I can't understand it.
RUSH: Gibbs doesn't even know. He doesn't even know about the snitch website. Either that or he has been told, "Gibbs, you don't know about it. That's an unacceptable word; there's no snitch website, forwarded emails." He's acting like he doesn't even know the thing exists.

By the way, my brother was very concerned, the dear and devoted David, that I might have reported something incorrect when I said the Washington Times says that the White House says that the war on terrorism is over because he tried to go to the website, it said server error or something. And I said, "Dave, no, no, that always happens when they're overflowing, when they're inundated, when their server shuts down." And I have the story here: "It's official. The U.S. is no longer engaged in a 'war on terrorism.' Neither is it fighting 'jihadists' or in a 'global war.' President Obama's top homeland security and counterterrorism official took all three terms off the table of acceptable words inside the White House during a speech Thursday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank. 'The President does not describe this as a 'war on terrorism,' said John Brennan, head of the White House homeland security office." Unacceptable words, unacceptable words inside the White House. That's right, Nazis can be Republicans. Yes, calling Republicans Nazis, saying that Republicans showing up at these town hall meetings are wingers and have swastikas, that's totally acceptable. Sending out e-mails from your own website, having a snitch website, acceptable, but war on terrorism and jihadists, unacceptable inside the White House.
I'll tell you, what's happening here right before our very eyes is the presidency of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party leadership in Congress has now positioned itself in direct opposition to the American people. That's the manifestation of all of this. (interruption) The question is being asked of me by the official program observer, "They are a professional politicians, do they not understand the risk here?" They are not professional politicians. They are authoritarian statists. They are not politicians in the sense of the word. They will become the kind of politician you think when it's reelection time. Senators, you know, I mean, Reid's up in 2010. He's in trouble in Nevada, but he will get serious about being a politician when his reelection comes. Right now this is about authoritative, authoritarian statism. This is about ramming things down people's throat who don't want them. This is not about democracy. This is not about being a representative republic. They have now officially lined themselves up against the people. It's this president and his party against the people of the United States of America. That's how this has manifested itself.

RUSH: Let me tell you what's been manufactured. It is not your energy, it is not your passion, it is not your presence at all of these town halls. That's genuine; that is real. What has been manufactured is the story that it has been manufactured. In fact, the only person who has put out a memo organizing his troops and rallying his troops is none other than the Dear Leader Barack Obama himself. Late afternoon he put out an e-mail to his minions. He went out there and he told them to hit the streets and knock on doors. That's the real rent-a-mob! Barack Obama! The real manufactured anger is that which Obama is manufacturing and trying to create. The other mob anger is genuine, and Mary Katharine Ham has found the way the Drive-Bys are making all of this up.
"When the 'manufactured' outrage the Left is trying to demonize lines up so inconveniently with public polling, it's sometimes necessary to create evidence for the 'manufactured' storyline," meaning we've got public polling, nobody wants this health care plan. His approval number is now 50%, Quinnipiac. It makes perfect sense with his poll numbers on health care and his approval, there would be people out there protesting this. So that's inconvenient for the people who want to try to poke holes in the genuine nature of the protest. So... "Enter Think Progress, which unearthed this shocking, secret memo from the leader of a small grassroots conservative organization in Connecticut, which allegedly instructs members on 'infiltrating town halls and harassing Democratic members of Congress.'
"Right Principles PAC was formed by Bob MacGuffie and four friends in 2008, and has taken in a whopping $5,017 and disbursed $1,777, according to its FEC filing. 'We're just trying to shake this state up and make a difference up here,' MacGuffie told [Mary Katharine Ham] during a telephone interview. He's surprised at his elevation to national rabble-rouser by the Left. Right Principles has a Facebook group with 23 members and a Twitter account with five followers." This is the Mr. Big of the "mob" movement! MacGuffie describes himself as an 'opponent of leftist thinking in America,' and told [Mary Katharine Ham] he's 'never pulled a lever' for a Republican or Democrat on a federal level.
"Yet this Connecticut libertarian's influence over a national, orchestrated Republican health-care push-back is strong, indeed, if you listen to liberal pundits and the Democratic National Committee, who have crafted a nefarious web out of refutable evidence. Think Progress highlighted his memo's directives to '"Yell," "Stand Up And Shout Out," "Rattle Him",' calling it a 'right-wing harassment strategy against Dem[ocrat]s.' The blog falsely connected MacGuffie to the national conservative group FreedomWorks through the most tenuous of threads. The Think Progress link that purports to establish [this little guy] as a FreedomWorks 'volunteer' leads to his one blog posting on a Tea Party website (on the free social networking site, ning.com).
"Think Progress calls Tea Party Patriots a 'FreedomWorks website.' The problem is it's not ... 'There is no formal structural connection,' Brandon told me. 'Never has been. Never will be. We're just fellow travelers in the movement.' When I asked MacGuffie if he was a volunteer for FreedomWorks outside the specious evidence Think Progress cited, he said, 'Absolutely not. You can Google all day; you won't find it. There is no formal connection. I don't know anyone from FreedomWorks.'" Now I'm going to jump a little forward here because the Think Progress memo purports to reprint from McGuffie's website verbatim. They do not appear in McGuffie's memo, but they do appear in the headlines in Think Progress' block quote of it.
Here is what McGuffie wrote for his website: "Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up..." Think Progress wrote this headline: "Artificially inflate your numbers." He never wrote that. He never said it. The next item: "You need to rock the boat early in the representative's presentation. Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge his statements early." The Think Progress headline: "Be disruptive early and often," but he didn't write it. They added it. The next block, quote: "The goal is to rattle the rep, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down." Think Progress adds this line: "Try to rattle him, not have an intelligent debate."
"The attempt to paint [MacGuffie] as a professional, funded operative is off-base, MacGuffie said, laughing. 'I guess they don't believe that people in America will stand up and fight back when government gets overbearing,' said MacGuffie, who added that he originally e-mailed the memo to 8-10 Connecticut activists in June." This is the Mr. Big of the unruly mob! "As is often the case, MSNBC anchors and the DNC alike have taken Think Progress' inaccurate sleuthing at face-value, elevating the humble Right Principles to heretofore unknown levels of national importance. ... The memo also includes these phrases, which are left out of the reporting and demagoguery: 'Do not bring the signs into the hall if you want any chance to be picked for a question.' 'Don't carry on and make a scene, just short, intermittent shout-outs,' which may sound familiar because the shout-out part was quoted without context by Think Progress."
So to summarize this, Mary Katharine Ham has just unraveled these SOBs with this memo. It makes the libs look really, really stupid -- and, of course, the media. This is on a par, folks, with Dan Rather and the George W. Bush National Guard story. There is no Mr. Big of the unruly mob other than me. I am the Mobfather. But the guy that they've singled out as the Mr. Big -- the giant website funded by the insurance companies and all this -- is just a little guy out there in Connecticut who sent it out to eight to ten people. And then they lie and make up what he said in his memo when they report it. And the dufuses over at MSNBC and elsewhere report it! Remember, by the way, a call I think -- this is Thursday, probably earlier this week.
Snerdley, help me out here. Remember the woman who called and said she was watching Richard Wolffe on the NBC nightly news and Richard Wolffe reported that all of these protests were drummed up, that they were not genuine. Remember her? Somewhere from Kansas, yeah. Maybe Wichita. I forget her name. But she had been watching Richard Wolffe at NBC, and Richard Wolffe reported what Think Progress has reported, that there was a guy out there drumming all this up, that it was a guy out there organizing, it was a guy out there agitating -- and there isn't. None of that is true. This is all genuine. The only guy who's put out a memo to his organizers to get in the game is Obama, and he did it in an e-mail late yesterday afternoon.
This is how it works. I tell you they're unraveling. They're having... They know they've got a loser. And, you know, there's another thing, folks, that we need to point out. We keep talking about Obama's health care plan, but did you know he doesn't have one. We know of one health care plan and that's what we've all read, that 1,000-page monstrosity in the House of Representatives. There are going to be some more bills coming out of the Senate but we don't know what they are yet. There is no Obama plan. He didn't know what was in the House plan. He didn't know. When somebody asked him, "I can lose my private insurance?"
"Why, I'm unfamiliar with that plan." He doesn't have a plan! That's why he doesn't talk about it specifically. That's why he won't debate it with anybody. He doesn't have a plan. There is no Obama health care plan. There is... Oh, there is the focus group change health "insurance" reform, not health "care" reform. They have been focus grouping this and that's why they have zeroed in on the insurance companies. There is no guiding principle other than: make the government bigger, take away people's freedom and liberty, get even with the parts of this country that you don't like, and throw sops to your buddies in the tort bar and the public sector union bosses.
That's who you have to make happy. And they are all a bunch of socialists themselves, feeding off the public trough and they want a bigger bite each and every day -- and Obama is there to give it to them. I tell you, this is a circumstance, ladies and gentlemen, that I am ecstatic to see. This is genuine. You know community organizers can't bitch when communities organize. Of all the things, of all the things to happen created out of the energy of the citizen involvement in his country -- of all the ways Obama can get picked at -- is by a bunch of people organizing in communities opposing his ramrod, reckless, dangerous, socialist health care plan down people's throats who do not want it. And that's why I say: A community organizer can't bitch when communities organize.

RUSH: We're going to go to the audio sound bites here starting at number two. This is actually a discussion of this phenomenon on NPR, a montage of a report by the host at NPR this morning, All Things Considered, Andrea Seabrook.
SEABROOK: It's happening in Maryland, Connecticut, Ohio, Missouri and more. Local conservative groups often from the antitax tea party movement are crashing lawmakers' public appearances and making headlines for it. Today's protests appear to be from fairly small numbers of people, whipped up by the conservative media like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.
RUSH ARCHIVE: I'll tell you these town hall meetings are erupting all over the place. We've got audio sound bites from more of them.
SEABROOK: What may have started as a spontaneous outcry has become more of a political strategy. After town hall video started popping up on YouTube, it didn't take long for the Democrat Party to wade into the fight. The result is the modern form of an all-out August PR war.
RUSH: Yeah, the only organizing being done, the real mob ruler, Andrea, is Barack Obama himself. And you know what, something I forgot to mention to you. That memo he sent out yesterday afternoon from his office, from the Oval Office, from Barack Obama to his 13 million supporters also asks for donations. It's a fundraising e-mail from the president of the United States at his personal website, BarackObama.com. In addition to marshalling and mobilizing forces. And Ms. Seabrook, are you going to do a story on the AFL-CIO organizing its own members to go out and try to counterbalance what the citizens at the town hall meetings are doing? Service Employees International Union, going to get all these union groups? Remember all of this is about the tort lawyers and the public sector union bosses.
I don't know how many czars Russia has had throughout its history, but we have about 44 of them in this administration. It's a very un-American characteristic as well, to have czars who are not accountable, they don't get appointed, approved by the Senate? When's the last time that you heard Nancy Pelosi talk about liberty, private property, and capitalism and merit? When's the last time you heard her praise success, investors, job creators, et cetera? When's the last time you heard that from any Democrat leader? In fact, aren't all those groups demonized? Capitalism, private property, liberty, success, investors, job creators? They are the enemy in this administration. They are the ones on the enemy's list, and they have been on the Democrat Party enemy's list for quite a while. This morning on MSNBC, Dylan Ratigan hosting the show. Contessa Brewer is on there with him, co-anchor. He says, "There's talk of a new tea party switching gears, a call for national so-called recess rally protest to health care reform being made here. Contessa, what exactly are they protesting?"
CONTESSA BREWER: They're protesting a lot of different things but in this case it seems to be the big overhaul reform legislation of health care. It may not be entirely as it seems though. There is a lot of evidence a lot of the so-called grassroots anger is being manufactured, even orchestrated by conservative republicans. That big recess rally, some of the organizers here, we're looking at a FOX News analyst, Red State, a right wing blog, American Majority run by a former Bush speech writer, Sam Adams Alliance, Americans for Prosperity run by conservative activists. So there is some indication, organization at play.
RUSH: Of course there's organization at play! People want to find out what to do, where the town hall meetings are and where to go. But this is a great example of the lies MSNBC is telling after believing a fabricated memo from Thinkprogress.com. Mary Katharine Ham blogging at the Weekly Standard threw this thing through the wringer and demonstrated how phony and fraudulent it is, yet they don't question at MSNBC or at NBC. They just continue to report it. This morning also on MSNBC, the co-host Carlos Watson speaking with former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert B. Reeeeeeeich. And Carlos Watson said, "I'm not convinced that Republicans can use this as a galvanizing fight as they look to regain some momentum."
REICH: They will definitely try to do that, Carlos. But remember the Republican Party today is very, very defensive. Their major spokespeople are people like Dick Cheney or Rush Limbaugh. They don't have the stature they once had. They don't really stand for anything. They haven't come out with their own health care plan. So you have a Republican Party that really is looking for issues, looking for ways of reasserting themselves. A defeat on health care would be a great way of giving the Obama administration a black eye, but they're not going to be able to do that. Again, 51 votes is all the Democrats need to get health care or a significant part of health care through the Senate this fall.
RUSH: Ah, that 51, 51, that's very important. Let me focus on that before I analyze something else that the former labor secretary said. Now, we all know that it takes 60 votes to get anything done in the Senate, and the Democrats have 60 votes. So what's he talking about 51? It's a term, ladies and gentlemen, called reconciliation, and it's not all that old. Reconciliation is primarily used, the 51 votes is used to get budget bills through and budget bills only. It is considered so important, the budget, run the country, 51 votes, simple majority. In other words, they got rid of the filibuster cloture rules for the budget. So if you get reconciliation, 51 votes, the Democrats are thinking of using reconciliation to get health care through the Senate. Now, I don't know that the American people, enough of them are informed of what a bastardization of Senate rules that would be. That will be up to Republicans in the Senate to shout loud and clear about what's being done here, because the fact of the matter is they have 60 votes. If they're going to go the reconciliation route, what it tells me is that they don't have 60 Democrats willing to vote for this.
Now, Secretary Reich said, "Rush Limbaugh, Cheney, they don't really stand for anything. They haven't come out with their own health care plan." How can the president have a plan, Mr. Secretary, when he has no plan? What is Obama's plan? There is a House bill. That bill has not been read by the president. He says he doesn't know what's in the House bill. The Senate hasn't produced a bill, so we don't know what that is. So the president and his minions are out promoting a plan that doesn't exist. His plan, what is it? The president cannot answer a question by saying, "Let me turn to Page 23." When he gets a question about his health care plan, he cannot say, "Oh, no, let me show you my plan here." He's out there saying that you won't lose your private insurance, but there is no plan. The only plan that addresses that is the House plan in which we will lose our private insurance. And he said he doesn't know that was in there. So he hasn't read the House plan. He doesn't have a plan of his own. What the president is doing is pushing feel-good fantasies.
You know, the interesting thing here is that former Labor Secretary Reich, "They don't have the stature they once had, they don't stand for anything. They haven't come out with their own health care." The hell we don't have our own health care plan. We've been talking about what to do to fix health care for I don't know how long. But it's important to point out, you might think this is an asterisk, but he doesn't have a plan. There is only the House bill which he hasn't read. "Are you saying, Rush, he's not involved?" No, no, don't misunderstand. I know exactly what he wants to do and so do you, but he won't tell you.
He hasn't put his plan out there. We know exactly what this man's going to do. We know exactly what he wants to do. We know exactly what he wants to use this plan for, to regulate and control as much of everybody's life as possible. It's not about providing more health insurance for people. It's not about providing more health care for people. In fact, let me find it. The Washington Post, I don't know how this happened. I don't know how this happened. The Washington Post on its website today has the most fascinating graphic comparing various aspects of the House bill to the Senate bill. And let's go to coverage. Let me click on coverage here. If the House bill doesn't happen, there will be 53 million uninsured by 2019. If the House bill passes, a $1 trillion abomination, if it passes in 2019, there will be 17 million people without health insurance.
Now, hell's bells here, folks. I thought the plan was to insure everybody who wasn't! No, it's not. Let's go to the Senate bill. Somebody at the Washington Post has seen a version of the Senate bill, and if the Senate bill happens, 36 million will be uninsured in 10 years, by 2019. Neither plan fully insures everybody. The House leaves 17 million uninsured, the Senate 36 million uninsured, for a trillion dollars. We can insure 12 million people. I ran the numbers on this, remember, three or four weeks ago. We can insure 12 million people for around $29 billion, and it was right there in the stimulus. This isn't about insuring the uninsured. This isn't about anybody's health care. This is about Obama building monuments to himself and establishing a power base that can never lose in the future.

RUSH: I want you to remember one thing, ladies and gentlemen, as this hot August heats up. All this talk about right-wing mobs and right-wing organizing is covering up the real reason it is happening in the first place. Why are people showing up at the town hall meetings, Mr. Snerdley? (interruption) Well, Snerdley's answer is "Because they don't like the policy," which means what? (interruption) No. It means they know what's in the bill! These people are showing up out of genuine outrage. They have read the bill. The members of Congress, they are going to attend town hall meetings have not read it. They have been given cheat sheets from Nancy Pelosi before the recess to brief them. We know what is in this abomination, page by page!
Members of Congress and the United States Senate do not. And that's being drowned out in all this mob talk. But the reason this is genuine is precisely because it originates out of substance. It has evolved from substance. The people showing up know what's in the bill. They have read it page by page, and these elitist imperial members of Congress have not.

RUSH: "A day after the White House dismissed protesters at town-hall events as people sent from opposition groups in Washington, the administration's political wing began mobilizing millions of its own supporters.
"'We've got to get out there,' President Obama said in an e-mail message sent Wednesday to the more than 13 million supporters of his campaign group, Organizing for America. These canvasses, town halls and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views and show your support,' he said. 'So here's what I need from you: Can you commit to join at least one event in your community this month?'" It's Obama that is Astroturfing! It is Obama who is manufacturing right from the White House, sending out his brown shirts to head up opposition to genuine American citizens who want no part of what Barack Obama stands for and is trying to stuff down our throats.
It would be one thing if this were just the leader of some website trying to do it, but this is the president of the United States who is mobilizing against over half the people in his own country! I have never seen this in this country. "Supporters who go to the group's Web site are asked to enter their names, e-mail addresses, mailing addresses and phone numbers. The coordinated effort from [the White House] to produce grass-roots action comes one day after the White House and Democrats in Washington denounced protesters at health care town hall forums across the country as the work of the Republican Party and its lobbyist allies. " So who is the mob leader? The mob leader is Barack Obama. The man trying to assemble mobs to counter genuine, heartfelt opposition to his policies is the mob leader.
And from, of all places the Huffington Post. "The nation's largest federation of labor organizations has promised to directly engage with boisterous conservative protesters at Democratic town halls during the August recess. In a memo sent out on Thursday, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney outlined the blueprint for how the union conglomerate would step up recess activities on health care reform and other topics pertinent to the labor community." You do it, Mr. Sweeney, because public sector union bosses like you are not smiled at by the American people. You're not liked, Mr. Sweeney. So look at what's happening. Obama organizes a mob of his supporters from his office in the West Wing of the White House. He is joined by a union leader who's going to send out... Now, we know that unions... You want to talk about mobs?
"The document makes clear that Obama allies view the town hall forums as ground zero of the health care debate. It also uses the specter of the infamous 2000 recount 'Brooks Brothers' protest to rally its members to the administration's side." That's why they are out there saying, "Brooks Brothers." Oh, yeah, white collar people opposing health care. Let's get the real blue-collar people, the union workers out there. I guess they can find enough of them with the number of jobs Barack Obama's killed in this country. There probably are enough union people out there to get rallied and organized and go out and cause some fireworks. Would you believe a showdown between union and grassroots conservative organizations? One totally fabricated, one totally manufactured, one totally made up. The other one genuine, heartfelt and pure. A community organizer cannot start bitching when communities organize, and he's bitching.

RUSH: Here is Mike in Omaha. Mike, welcome to the program. Great to have you with us.
CALLER: Don Limbaugh, the great Mobfather of the airwaves. Very warm greetings from Omaha, sir.
RUSH: Thank you very much, sir, and I'm honored to be the Mobfather.
CALLER: Ha-ha! Hey, I'm honored to be a capital in your mob.
RUSH: (chuckling)
CALLER: Just a couple of things here, Rush. These Democrats that are all going berserk about the Astroturfing, you know -- and Barack Obama, he perfected Astroturfing. You know the lib's elite mentalities. "Well, our lib constituents, they are ignorant -- and the conservatives, well, they're just plain stupid. So how could grass rooting...? How could actual grass rooting occur?" They just are so dumbfounded by this that people are actually standing up and doing this and actually community organizing on their own without Barack Obama doing it. They can't believe it. They cannot believe that this could happen without actual grass rooting. And, you know, I was thinking here, Rush. I was thinking Obama's poll numbers are just dropping and plummeting. So the other week I kind of made up a list of some of the things that this guy's done: Hiis close ties with America-haters, Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, his embarrassment internationally about how long to the Saudi king, apologizing everywhere he goes. "There will be no earmarks in my administration" and only 8,000 was passed in the first bill, 9%...
RUSH: Wait. Don't forget yucking it up with Hugo Chavez.
CALLER: Oh! Oh! Was that disgusting, a president of the United States doing that? That was disgusting. Disgracing his white grandmother, nominating a racist for Supreme Court. It goes on and on, Rush. And you talk about Ronald Reagan known as the Great Communicator. Barack Obama is the Great Divider, okay? This guy has done nothing but play the race card his entire life. His attorney general is pushing a hate crime law that doesn't cover whites or priests but everybody else. This guy, Rush... You know, this guy is the communist infestation of our Constitution is terrible. I mean, I'm just disgusted by this guy. And, of course, his poll numbers are dropping because people all around the country are finally starting to understand what this man's all about because nobody really knew about it. "Oh, his legendary cool, Rush." That's because nobody ever told him no in his life and now he's finding out that Chicago-style politics doesn't work in Washington.
RUSH: Yeah, and he's also finding out he's not a Messiah.
CALLER: (laughing)
RUSH: Your comment here about him being a Great Communicator. That is his image, and I would just like everybody to consider something. Where is this great communication on the health care bill? Why is this thing falling so far apart? Why is it in tatters? If he's such a great orator and a Great Communicator, how in the world can there be no simple, positive message about this plan coming out of the White House? The answer is there's nothing positive about it. And the second thing is he doesn't have his own specific plan that he wants to talk about because he can't. Nobody would accept it. I think this the Great Communicator business has given... Wrll, Karl Rove writes about this in The Wall Street Journal. He says you know what's happened in there, when they get in trouble, every White House polls and every White House does focus groups.
But this bunch apparently meets every Wednesday night for two or three hours to go over the latest focus group data and the latest polling data -- and that's why at his White House press conference it all of a sudden became health "insurance" reform rather than health "care" reform. People like their health care. That's when they started demonizing the insurance companies, and Rove's point is that once you start reacting solely to focus groups and polling, you become incoherent. And that's where they are. The Great Communicator is incoherent on this. The more he goes out and speaks about this, the more there are people who do not want it. But he's still a great orator and he's still very cool. He's still got the great looking family and he still dresses well, still slick, got the great family dog. All the things that got him elected are still there, but they're not working. That means panic has set in at the White House because the only thing they had going in their effort to ramrod all this stuff through us, was Obama's magic personality, his ability to soothe and calm while lying through his teeth about his plans. It's gone now.

RUSH: Okay, I've got a better version here of Steny Hoyer at his town meeting, a more complete version. This was Tuesday in New York. He was up there with Representative Michael Arcuri and they held a press conference to talk about funding for high-speed rail. And during the press conference Hoyer and a protestor named Don Jeror have this exchange about health care reform.
JEROR: You're lying to me! I don't have sophisticated language. I recognize a liar when I see one. It was 53% this morning now it's addin' up the nukes!
HOYER: I didn't say it wasn't w-w-what you're saying.
JEROR: You said it was the Bush administration. No, it wasn't.
HOYER: I said it hadn't changed.
JEROR: Listen, I'm a registered Democrat, okay?
HOYER: Me, too.
JEROR: Why would you guys try to stuff a health care bill down our throat in three to four weeks when the president takes six months to pick what he wanted for a dog for his kids?
AUDIENCE: (Cheers and applause)
RUSH: That's called slice and dice. Slice and dice.
All right, this is Ellen in Holbrook, Arizona. Hi, Ellen, great to have you with us.
CALLER: Hello.
RUSH: Oh, hi.
CALLER: Hello.
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: I just went to a meeting and she didn't want to call it a town hall meeting. She didn't want to answer questions.
RUSH: Wait, you went where?
CALLER: Her name is Ann Kirkpatrick. She was newly elected in November.
Rush: So you went to Ann Kirkpatrick's town hall meeting. Now, start at the beginning again.
CALLER: She went to several communities here. She's been going to several communities. She's headed to Winslow next. She was here 45 minutes ago and was supposed to be here 15 minutes longer, but she walked out. She wanted to have us in small --
RUSH: One-on-ones, right?
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: This is what they're trying. The Democrats, this happened in Florida yesterday. I think some down in Miami. Or maybe it's... There are so many of them running, I get it confused. But these Democrats are trying to have one-on-ones in private, and the crowds are saying, "There ain't no way."
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: Ain't no way.
CALLER: Yes. And a couple of guys said, "We want to ask questions! You work for us! We want to hear the answers," and we couldn't hear a thing.
RUSH: Eh, you guys sound like an unruly mob and nazis.
CALLER: Oh, it was bad. We had swastikas all over the place.
RUSH: Yeah, I can imagine. I can imagine.
CALLER: (laughing) Anyway, after the second person in her cue spoke out loud and said, "I want to ask this question: If we enact this health care bill, are the members of Congress going to be a part of it?" And she hemmed and hawed and really didn't want to answer.
RUSH: She doesn't know!
CALLER: Well, I think she knows perfectly well that they don't want to be part of it. But finally she just got up and left. She didn't want to stick around for any more.
RUSH: Well, that's not going to be happening from now on. Let me share this with you. This is from my buddy Erick Erickson at RedState.com: "Trying to avoid middle class workers opposed to Obamacare, Congresswoman Kathy Castor (D-FL) has schedule a last minute townhall for tonight." She wasn't going to have one. "She'll be surrounded by union goons from the [Service Employees International Union] to feed middle class voters to alligators if they dare criticize Obamacare." This is what's happening. Obama has mobilized union thugs to go out and also attend these town meetings to intimidate the genuine citizens out there who are upset about this.
CALLER: Well, this was no town hall meeting. She didn't want that.
RUSH: Those are paid activists. Paid activists are going to be showing up and so the Democrats are going to get brave now. So they are going to have, uhhh, "protection." Uh, the mob's showing up. The real genuine mob is showing up to protect these Democrats from the unruly Nazis that are showing up to protest the health care bill. John in Mansfield, Texas. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Hi. Megadittos from the retired Navy man.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: Okay. First thing... Well, I wanted to ask about two things, but I'll start with the first one. In line with what you've been saying all day today, you know, we've got a bunch of sleaze bags up there that are going to pass this whether we like it or not. Once they do that, what can we do to fix it?
RUSH: You throw them out of office. That's the first thing that will happen if this happens. The Blue Dog Democrats will be the first casualties. They will go, and some other Democrats are going to go as well.
CALLER: But what I'm getting at is --
RUSH: Look...
CALLER: Let's say we put in the Republicans --
RUSH: We've been talking about this every day. Let me say it once and for all. The question is, "What can we do about it after they pass it?" In the first place I'm not conceding it's going to get passed. I'm not giving up. I'm not conceding defeat on this, not with what's going on out there. Not with the White House unraveling. But if it gets passed, whether it gets passed or not, what are we going to do? We need to revitalize the Republican Party and make it conservative once again. We need a conservative candidate who loves conservatism, can articulate it, can defend it, can explain it and can cherry-pick what's wrong with liberalism; is optimistic, understands the greatness of this country and where it comes from. That's what we do! And then once we do that and start winning elections, then we start unraveling it.
But if we're going to sit around here and think, there's nothing we can do, that this is all inevitable, then let me know and I'm out of here. I've got plenty of golf courses I can go to before they go out of business in this economy. The intricacy of this bill -- and we don't know what's in it. If it does pass, we really don't know what version of it is going to pass. There's too much. They could end up passing something very simple that just raises taxes on people, insures a few people. All Obama wants here -- well, not all. What he will settle for at the end of all this is to be able to say he reformed health care. He's building a monument to himself. That's why I've made the point all day, he doesn't announce his plan. He doesn't have a plan. We're talking about one plan and that's the House of Representatives plan which he hasn't read. He's not going to get specific. But I don't concede that this is a lock. I don't concede that it's a fete de complete. Look, these people have changed the argument. They aren't even talking about health care anymore. They are talking about Nazis and swastikas and party run by talk show hosts and so forth. If you change the argument, it means you're losing.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Now, pursuant to the point that I was making about conservatism and it revitalizing and taking over the GOP, how many times in the last two years have we heard that conservatism is dead, that the era of Reagan is over? That conservative principles are dead, that the movement has to reinvent itself, that the movement has to adopt more of the approaches of the left, et cetera, et cetera? How many times have we heard this? And how many times have real conservatives like me said, "No, we don't have to reinvent ourselves, we don't have to change who we are. What we need to start doing is exposing the left for what it is." We have to explain who we are. We have to contrast ourselves with them. It is hard work, but it can be done and it must be done.
My friends, you have to work at liberty. The history of the world is tyranny and dungeons and torture and poverty. That's what's so exceptional about the United States. You have to work at liberty. You have to defend it. You have to explain it. You have to promote it or it will be lost. We have to engage these people. We have to stand up to them. We have to challenge them, and that's exactly what's being done here in these town hall meetings. It's happening at the office. You name it. People are standing up for their liberty. That's what's going on at the town hall meetings. People are standing up for their freedom. They are saying, "You are not taking any more liberty and freedom from us." The moderates in our party and the left see nothing but permanent decline. They see decline and prosperity and living standards, economic opportunity, they see that as inevitable. We do not. We see America as a pie that never, ever needs to stop growing. We don't need to reinvent ourselves. We need a party that will expose the left, not get so introspective and say, "What's wrong with us?" There's nothing wrong with conservatism.
There's another series of lies -- I think they're lies -- that the Democrats are using out there to change the argument, hype up this business on the town halls. "Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) will not be hosting any town hall events this August -- instead, hes making himself available for one-on-one constituent meetings." One of the reasons is "his offices have received threatening phone calls, including at least one direct threat against his life." I frankly don't believe this. I don't believe these guys' lives are being threatened. "Freshman Democratic lawmaker 'physically assaulted at a local event' by activists." This is from Thinkprogress.org, a website that we know lies and makes things up. Mary Katharine Ham exposed them last night and today in a blog piece at the Weekly Standard. I don't believe it. There's a pattern developing here, a pattern. These precious, these wonderful, these imperialist members of Congress working so hard to make our lives better, why, they're being threatened, their lives are being threatened, they're being assaulted by these unruly mobs. It's all BS.
Lloyd Doggett, Texas, last night on MSNBC urging his fellow Democrats not to do what he did and flee protestors. He was asked the question: "Congressman Doggett, you had one of these famous events where you were basically kind of chased into your car and out of there by these protestors?"
DOGGETT: Well, Lawrence, that's really the right-wing spin on it. They dribbled out a little videotape. What it doesn't show is that I spent an hour discussing and debating this bill and listening to all the taunts and the pictures of the tombstones with my name on it and they show some video at the end when their noise got so loud, it just wasn't productive to stay any longer. Democrats shouldn't flee. We need to stand and fight these people.
RUSH: Thank you, Congressman Doggett. We need to stand and fight the American people. We Democrats need to stand and fight the American people. So the host says, "So now you are telling me something I didn't know based on this imagery that you feel you had a productive meeting."
DOGGETT: No, I wouldn't say it was productive. I stood my ground and debated with them this bill, listened to all their laughable objections to the bill, explained why a public plan, a public option is essential. And then what they did after their views were expressed and responded to, they shouted down their neighbors because they didn't want to hear the views of other people.
RUSH: They didn't want to hear lies. They didn't want to hear lies. This is a quick bite, five seconds in Little Rock, Children's Hospital. Mike Ross, Vic Snyder held a town meeting on health care reform and a participant stood up and expressed his views.
VOICE: You need to get the government the hell out of our way.
(Applause).
RUSH: Now this is interesting, too. During a radio interview yesterday, Chuck Grassley in Iowa City said this about health care reform.
GRASSLEY: In countries that have government-run health care, just give you an example. I've been told that the brain tumor that Senator Kennedy has, because he's 77 years old, would not be treated the way it's treated in the United States. In other words, he would not get the care that he gets here because of his age. In other words they'd say, "Well, he doesn't have long to live," even if he lived another four or five years. They would say, "Well, we've got to spend the money on people that can contribute more to the economy." It's a little bit like people saying when somebody gets to be 85 their life is worth less than when you're 35 and pull the tubes on them.
RUSH: And give a pain pill. Now Chuck Grassley is a moderate. Let me tell you what's happening here. I think all of you people out there have to realize that your actions are leading Republicans, they're growing some onions. Some of these moderate Republicans are actually having to spread their legs a little bit to make room. You think a guy like Chuck Grassley would say this about Ted Kennedy if he didn't feel like he was on solid ground with his voters? There is no way he would say anything like this. So you are emboldening these people out there in your own party. I think it's fabulous.
Here's Lou Ann, Mount Vernon, Ohio. Welcome to the EIB Network.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. I am so upset. I have got a story, speaking of liars, to tell you. I called my Congressman's office and asked them -- this was August 4th, Tuesday. I called his staffers and asked them when he was going to be returning to our district here in Ohio and having hometown meetings to which I was told, "We're not sure yet, but we are sure he will be back and have meetings; they will be posted on his website. Hang onto your hat." At the very same time I was asking about when this liar was going to return to Ohio, he was having a closed door meeting with the newspaper people in this town. He was already here! He was already here, and his staffers told me, "We don't know when he's coming back, but we know he will be having town hall meetings." And as of last night they still weren't posted on his website and he used all of Pelosi's talking points and we had a great big front page article called "Clearing Up the Misconceptions on the Bill." Do you understand? They lied to me. They lied to me. He was in the town, in our hometown here when they told --
RUSH: Even worse than that, they lied to you while he's at the newspaper working on a joint propaganda plan.
CALLER: Yes. And can I give his name?
RUSH: Yeah. I was going to ask you the liar's name. What's his name?
CALLER: Zack Space. And this is in Ohio.
RUSH: Zack Space?
CALLER: Yes. And let me say this, too. Calling him a blue dog. There is no such thing as blue dog. You determined it right. They are lap dogs.
RUSH: They are lap dogs and they are Democrats.
CALLER: And he's a liar, they lied. His staffer's lied to me. They said they didn't know where he was.
RUSH: Wait a second. They could have thought he was with a girl and they were just protecting him. You never know.
CALLER: Well, that's true because after what happened with Sanford, we all know that could be the case.
RUSH: I'm not saying he was. I'm not saying he was. We've got experience here that guides us in these things with -- (laughing)
CALLER: Thank you. Because I tell you, I'm close to tears over this, and you have given me the first chuckle I've had over this lying bag of crap all day.
RUSH: Man, you are worked up.
CALLER: I don't like to be lied to. I can tell you I can take just about anything, but do not lie to me. I don't like to be lied to. And I want to tell these people something. The reason we're fired up and we're going to these town hall meetings is not because we're some bunch of riffraff or troublemakers. And the reason people are exploding like this is because we're tired of being lied to.
RUSH: Amen, sister. You are tired of being lied to, plus you have read the bill. You know what's in it.
CALLER: Yes, I have. I'm an RN, honey. I read it. And my husband's a radiographer. We've read it. We've read it. We know it. We live it.
RUSH: Let me tell you. Thanks, Lou Ann, for calling. If any of you Blue Dog Democrats are listening to this, this is what you are going to face. If you think people are going to forget this by November 2010, do not make that mistake. They are not going to forget this, especially if this thing passes. There will be a price to pay that you cannot imagine.

RUSH: Lansing, Michigan. Tom, hi, sir. Nice to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.
CALLER: Well, hello, Rush, now I'm in Jackson. One of the perks of driving a truck. Eventually I'll make my way back home to Detroit.
RUSH: Okay, good.
CALLER: One quick thing. What these people have to realize, Pelosi and all these people, there's a lot of me out there. There's a lot of disenfranchised Democrats, Democrats in exile that are frustrated because they've trusted these people for so many years and now we're trying to retrain our brain and we're finding the other side of the story and we're really disappointed in them.
RUSH: Well --
CALLER: Come 2010 they will not get my vote and thousands of others.
RUSH: See, I said this yesterday. I said that the core of the Democrat Party is not this ultra-radical leftist. The core Democrat voter is not like these people running the Democrat Party right now. Now, I've also heard my entire 21-year career here on this show, conservative blacks call and say, "Hey, it's over. The lock that the Democrats have on the black vote is over," and it has never changed. So I know you are speaking for yourself and it's anecdotal data, but this is the most radical regime that this country has ever had leading it. And we've been asking for a long time, "Do all the Democrats in this country really want this?" and I've always thought, "No. No, they don't." We'll find out. We'll find out the next election.

RUSH: "The percentage of US homeowners who owe more than their house is worth will nearly double to 48% in 2011 from 26% at the end of March, tending another blow to the housing market said the experts at Deutsche Bank yesterday." The underwater aspect of this... Folks, if that's remotely accurate prediction, what recovery? What prosperity? "Unleash prosperity for everybody, not just the few." What prosperity? Your number one asset's worthless? The guys that are talking about this on CNN, they don't understand this. They are stumped by the bad economic news and they just... They're very upset. Heidi Collins is talking this morning about business correspondent Christine Romans. Heidi Collins, the anchor said this:
COLLINS: Is the president doing enough to protect your livelihood and, of course, your life savings. The Obama administration has said the economy is improving, but Deutsche Bank is predicting big trouble in the housing market. CNN's Christine Romans is here now to explain. How does this affect everybody?
RUSH: And here's the CNN economics babe.
ROMANS: We know the economy but many people think the freefall is over, but this report shows you that the value of your house is still a very big question mark. This report shows the number of a'homes that it expects will be underwater. The number of homeowners underwater on their mortgage by the time there is a recovery. That will be almost half of all mortgage holders, Heidi, will owe more on their home than it's worth.
RUSH: By the time there's a recovery? What recovery, Christine? We're in big trouble, apparently. CNN, they declared the recession over last week. But now this news is just discombobulated. The anchor, Heidi Collins, was just amazed when she heard it. She said, "So it's not getting any better?"
ROMANS: No, and it seems to be THE problem. The number of foreclosures, people are losing their jobs, and that feeds into the foreclosure crisis. The fact that home prices keep falling and have just now recently shown
a little glimmer of stabilization, what this report suggests is that (snicker) recent sign of strength should be taken with a bit of a grain of salt, quite frankly, because we have more tough sledding in the housing market ahead.
RUSH: But the recession was over last week, she said! We were rescued. Prosperity for all!

CNN: Stocks Retreat as Jobs Report Looms AP: New Jobless Claims Drop More Than Expected |
"As I write this, tomorrow is Tuesday, which is a cardio day. I'll spend five minutes warming up on the VersaClimber, a towering machine that requires you to move your arms and legs simultaneously. Then I'll do 30 minutes on a stair mill. On Wednesday a personal trainer will work me like a farm animal for an hour, sometimes to the point that I am dizzy -- an abuse for which I pay as much as I spend on groceries in a week. Thursday is 'body wedge' class, which involves another exercise contraption, this one a large foam wedge from which I will push myself up in various hateful ways for an hour. Friday will bring a 5.5-mile run, the extra half-mile my grueling expiation of any gastronomical indulgences during the week. I have exercised like this -- obsessively, a bit grimly -- for years, but recently I began to wonder: Why am I doing this? Except for a two-year period at the end of an unhappy relationship -- a period when I self-medicated with lots of Italian desserts -- I have never been overweight. One of the most widely accepted, commonly repeated assumptions in our culture is that if you exercise, you will lose weight. But I exercise all the time, and since I ended that relationship and cut most of those desserts, my weight has returned to the same 163 lb. it has been most of my adult life. I still have gut fat that hangs over my belt when I sit. Why isn't all the exercise wiping it out?"
He goes on with more statistics. Then he quotes some doctors in the back. Eric Ravussin, chair in diabetes and metabolism at Louisiana State University and a prominent exercise researcher, says, "'In general, for weight loss, exercise is pretty useless.' Many recent studies have found that exercise isn't as important in helping people lose weight as you hear so regularly in gym advertisements or on shows like The Biggest Loser -- or, for that matter, from magazines like this one. The basic problem is that while it's true that exercise burns calories and that you must burn calories to lose weight, exercise has another effect: it can stimulate hunger. That causes us to eat more, which in turn can negate the weight-loss benefits we just accrued. Exercise, in other words, isn't necessarily helping us lose weight. It may even be making it harder."
I remember quoting a guy who wrote a book about this a year-and-a-half or so ago. (interruption) Whoa. I'm not saying exercise is bad for you. Snerdley says I'll never get a gym sponsor. Exercise is good for you! I'm not saying it's not! I'm saying it has nothing to do with losing weight or keeping weight off. Zilch, zero, nada. You people at the New York Daily News and ABC News are irresponsible. You are nothing but hacks. You try to destroy everything that is successful and everything that works. You tell me I can't do what I just did. You tell me what I am doing that is working doesn't work. You're idiots! I have never seen these stories about dear old Oprah. I have never seen stories: "Oh, poor Oprah, it isn't going to work." Anyway, it works. It's the best diet I have ever been on, and I've done every one of them but Weight Watchers because I don't like pink packaging. I have done everything there is. I have fasted for 60 days. I have done the grapefruit thing. I have done Adkins. But this one is different, which is why I did it.

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, would you please indulge me for one more comment on this New York Daily News story on my diet? I've got to read something here to you. "Limbaugh has professed ignorance as to how his diet works, despite numerous queries since he announced his weight loss plans in March. 'Folks, it's not that I won't tell you, it's just I can't,' he said in June. 'It's too complicated. I mean putting the menu together is a jigsaw puzzle every day. It would take me 45 minutes every day to tell you what the diet plan is and answer all your questions about why it works.'" At the time I didn't want to identify the program for obvious business reasons. I choose not to do it. I wasn't doing the diet is a paid endorser or any of that stuff, and I can't now tell you!
The diet is made up of recipes that are as healthy as anything I've ever had. You do have to mix the protein stats and carbohydrates in the course of the day, but you get all the basic minimums and then some. The first week of the diet I remember I hounded Kathryn because she's the one who found it. I said, "Kathryn, this isn't going to work; it's too much food!" We were at a restaurant. We were at Travini here. It was like the second night of the diet and I ordered what was permissible. I had some salmon. I had five ounces of salmon and some steamed spinach and some broccoli. I said, "This isn't going to work. I'm not going to lose weight." Really, I was kind of mean to her in a way because every diet I've done, yeah, you've got to be hungry for it to work.
I'm not hungry on this diet. These people don't know what they're talking about even after listening to me. Look, if I could tell you what the diet was, you wouldn't need to go to them! Okay, here's what I had for lunch. I'll just tell you. I had five ounces of salmon grilled with all kinds of herbs and spices on it on top of a bed of lettuce with some vegetables in there and some vinaigrette and a bowl of chips. Dinner tonight is going to be something called "pizza chicken." Now, have you learned anything? Can you go do that with me telling you what I'm eating in the diet? No, you can't. And I'm going to sit here...
Well, you could do the salmon but you're covered for one or two meals then. I can't give you the recipe on the air. This is not a recipe show. We're not the Food Network here. Yeah, these guys, the chef comes here, fixes it every day and these guys on the staff say, "It's too bad you can't smell it because the stuff coming out of there every day is awesome." Ignorant! "Professes ignorance about his diet." I'll tell you, journalism in this country is an absolute disgrace. It's just an absolute disgrace. I could come up -- I personally, I could come up -- with the cure for cancer and they would find a way to say this is bad for the drug companies. They'd be defending the drug companies, and it'd be, "It's bad for doctors." (sigh)
