It's just one state. But its one of the centers of African-American culture and influence in the nation. Atlanta, with nearly 6 million residents in its metro area, is home to hundreds of top black musicians and other entertainers, civil rights leaders, and business entrepreneurs. Janet Jackson, Usher, Tyler Perry, and Andrew Young are just a handful of the many big names that can be found moving about the Georgia city on a given day.
That's why I was startled when our firm, InsiderAdvantage, conducted this past week two separate surveys about various issues for corporate clients in the area. Both polls were conducted on the same night. To keep phone respondents on the line while the poll quizzed them on rather mundane subjects, they were told they'd be given a chance during the questioning to offer an opinion on the job performances of certain political leaders.
I was shocked when one survey showed President Barack Obama with a disapproval rating of 35 percent among African Americans in Georgia, while the second one had it at 38 percent. Those two results are statistically identical, as both polls had margins of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

I just ordered two anti-Obama bumper stickers and t-shirts from this website.
“I truly hope people dont associate Obama with black people in leadership.”
The potential silver lining in the Obama cloud is that people will associate him with Progressivism, Liberalism, Socialism, Community Activism, and, of course, the Democrat Party. If those 4 “isms”, and his party, are discredited as a result of the Obama presidency, then he will actually have provided a valuable long-term service to the country.
Two possibilities that occur to me are that (1) he had a family business and has sold it. Maybe that coincided with his departure from politics. (2) he worked for Newt Gingrich, and may have quit out of disillusionment when Newt's career blew up over the skirt.
I will rely on your obvious insight into this. As far as I see, people don’t seem to mind staying ignorant to his rhetoric.
Thanks for the heads up NoDRodee!

“Even a good Black wont have a chance for 50 years.”
At least.
Pretty soon he’ll be that half-white guy...
He's probably younger than I am (more and more people are these days)
I have noticed the same thing. :-)
What’s a shame is thaty there are some very good Black Conservatives like Ken Blackwell and Michael Williams and many we haven’t heard of, but who may pay a price for nobama’s jumping the shark.
I’m shocked, too. In fact, I don’t believe it.
no way do blacks abandon Obama
hey stuck with OJ and Michael Jackson...both of whom tried to be “white”
I was asked to run for an open state representative seat back when I was very active in our neighborhood association . . . turned it down flat, remembering my daddy's good advice. Also, I am way too plain spoken to be a good politician, and I hate cold calls and asking people for money!!!!!!
Most likely Mr. Towery just got fed up with the whole charade. I'm always reminded of Stevenson's David Balfour (in the eponymous sequel to Kidnapped that nobody ever reads, but it's a better book) who said he was never tempted to go into politics, because "I had seen it from behind, where it is all bones and blackness."
Or Herman Kaine, he would be great!
>>I truly hope people dont associate Obama with black people in leadership.<<
I don’t know any reasonable person who would. No way.
Obama must have reached out and touched their incomes. Not realizing they were the new “rich” he was coming after.
I can relate. Honest people get the shaft too. I read that the campaign between Adams and Jefferson was rabid so I guess it’s always been that way. It’s just on a grander scale and “instant” mud nowadays. Daily.
Don’t you believe it! Obama will get 99 percent of the Black vote no matter what he does. Dirty little secret: African Americans are the most overtly and most intensely racist subset in the society.
Yep, this is about as close as I get to politics. Any closer and it might bite me, or I might accidentally touch that pitch and be defiled . . . .
Blacks voted for Obama’s black half and that wasn’t racist, so I am not a racist when I criticize his white half.
Also there seems to be something about DC that turns conservatives into wimps. I believe that part of the problem is that those in DC are in an echo chamber. And they seldom leave it. Congress was not supposed to be a full time job. Hence these people have no grounding in, or understanding of, real America. They become divorced from it. Power changes them.
